Nemesis Reborn: General Discussion

I’m sure i read that technically The Smiler is more popular than Nemesis in terms of daily riders relative to respective throughput.

Not sure what time period that was and probably too many other variables to measure it definitively.
One factor working against Nemesis is its remote location within the park

If AT begin allowing guests to enter the park via Forbidden Valley more often, then I wonder whether this will increase its daily ridership

P.S. For what it's worth, my personal opinion is that The Smiler is the best ride in the park, and Nemesis is the second; I don't have a definitive third favourite, but it may have been Toxicator if it was a different type of flat ride (e.g. a Super Star rather than a Top Spin)

No, sorry.
Nemesis was designed to be exactly where it is...like Oblivion.
There to spread the punters around the park...to make sure the major attractions are spread wide to ensure flowing crowds right across the park, so Nemesis and Oblivion are big attractions designed a mile apart...a bit like the bread and milk being right at the back of the supermarket, to make sure people are spread around.

I know it’s terrible, that’s why it’s only survived 33 years and the nearby flyer has only lasted 24 years and they haven’t invested new ride hardware in the area since the last….. 13 months
Sarcasm aside, I take the opposite view: nobody would bother walking all that way if not for an excellent ride such as Nemesis being there

It's the same philosophy as TV networks putting a good show in a bad time slot: some see it as a sign that the network doesn't think much about the show, but you could make the opposite argument that the network wants a strong show to attract viewers to a slot where they otherwise wouldn't make the effort to tune in

That's my point (see above)

You stated the opposite!
Nemesis is in a good location for the park because it attracts people to an area that they otherwise wouldn't visit (and thus also relieves queue pressure from other areas), as you said

However: I personally don't think that Forbidden Valley is the best location for Nemesis' own personal ridership, as more people would probably ride Nemesis if it was in Dark Forest or X-Sector

I personally would probably rarely ever go to Forbidden Valley if Thirteen was there instead of Nemesis - especially in the days before Toxicator, as Galactica and Sub-Terra wouldn't really be worth the effort of walking all that way and losing time from the day, in my opinion

I'm not sure if anybody has data from 2023 which shows how many people visited Forbidden Valley when Nemesis and Toxicator weren't there? I'd imagine that it was a ghost town, although I'm guessing that Galactica probably still had long queues due to its slow operations

I'm not sure location within a park matters much, no matter where in the world unless it's properly hidden. It's not like SteVe or Exterminator or T'Ultimate had/have issues with ridership. Even something as awfully laid out as La Recre Des 3 Cures, whilst people might not find things they weren't deserted. Towers might be large but the signposting is adequate.

The issue for me is distance (and time); I think I have only ever used the Sky Ride once (in 1994), and so I have generally always had to walk to Forbidden Valley

Thinking about it now: I remember criticising the decision to put Air right next to Nemesis, as I felt they were too similar*, and Air immediately felt lesser by comparison ("why queue for Air instead of Nemesis right next to it") - but, in hindsight, perhaps this was deliberate, as it was felt necessary in order to boost FV as much as possible in order to incentivise people to bother going there, with the Haunted House along the way as well (to somewhat break up the long journey)

(*My personal preference would have been to geographically switch Oblivion and Air around, so that there would have been large B&M invert-style rides on either side of the park, and thus more incentive to ride Air; Oblivion doesn't quite fit into this category, as it feels like only half a ride to me, and not one that I would probably make the effort to ride if not for its convenient location next to The Smiler)

Not being able to find rides in a theme park is a uniquely frustrating and absurd experience! Could probably start an entire thread based off of anecdotes...

Phantasialand is very much guilty of this, despite generally good, informative signing and an app with GPS, Colorado Adventure's entrance is really out of sight and we couldn't find Crazy Bats until day 3 of our visit.

Nemesis is comparatively unmissable, especially as you tend to travel over it on the monorail so can get a general sense of where it is immediately.

It always bugged me that you go right past Nemesis on the monorail... only to then have to travel right back to it via foot or Sky Ride

I wanted to jump out of the monorail window and go straight to it !

Please keep discussion to Nemesis Reborn as much as possible. Some comparison to popularity with other rides across the resort is fine to an extent. But when it heads into discussing Thorpe Park's editions and removals/changes there - that's very much discussion for another topic!

We have loads of ranking threads and stuff if you want to talk about your personal preferences in more detail too :).
