Nemesis: Sub-Terra

Rumblings from where exactly? Any kinda reputable source? To add fuel to this fire, there are rumblings that engineers from ABC Rides (Sub-Terra’s manufacturer) were recently on-site at Alton Towers…
Interesting…

I’m not sure where, admittedly, but I have heard more than one person saying it.Rumblings from where exactly? Any kinda reputable source?

I’ll be the first to hold my hands up and admit I’m wrong if these rumours turn out to be false, but I think it’s an interesting possibility to consider nonetheless…

Maybe they're trying to get this open again as if rumours of Nemesis refurbishment are true (not saying they are just rumours) and Funk'n'Fly departs at the end of the season with no replacement, Galactica and The Blade would be the only attractions operating in the area next season (albeit I don't know how long a full Nemesis refurb would take). Just theorising though and this is probably way off the mark.

I would hope that a permanent replacement for Funk'n'Fly and the other Retrosquad flats would be sought during closed season.Maybe they're trying to get this open again as if rumours of Nemesis refurbishment are true (not saying they are just rumours) and Funk'n'Fly departs at the end of the season with no replacement, Galactica and The Blade would be the only attractions operating in the area next season (albeit I don't know how long a full Nemesis refurb would take). I have good reason to believe that this will be the case.I would hope that a permanent replacement for Funk'n'Fly and the other Retrosquad flats would be sought during closed season.
With regards to Sub-Terra, this is probably the most that has happened surrounding the ride for a few seasons now, and that's without taking rumours like ABC being on site into account. I really would like to see something come of this, but as I've said before we have been burned many times before so I'm hesitant to get too excited.

I'd love to see it back because it was my favourite dark ride on park. Have you heard rumours about permanent flats for next year?I have good reason to believe that this will be the case.

Presumably one of the places Matt is speaking of of hearing the rumour is via a post I made on CoasterForce.
As for my source, it's all just Chinese whispers really. I hear things here and there. Sometimes these things are obviously complete BS. Other times it's something that is the case, but has gotten twisted slightly along the way. Sometimes it's bang on the money.
I don't know whether it's true or not, but I wouldn't go posting about it online if I thought it was utter tosh. I think it's an out there thing, and on the less side of likely. Also, I don't know what the rules re Covid restrictions and abc people come to the UK. So it could be a thing, could not be.
Very much just a rumour, to be taken with a huge pinch of salt. Do with the information what you will!

If they want a new supporting ride for 2022 season then it makes perfect economical sense to reopen it if it can be done with a few tweaks as installing a state of the art modern flat ride won't come cheap.
The building is already there for them, the hardware is supposedly still there, the queue line etc. That is the vast majority of the costs already spent. Getting ABC in to tweak the ride a bit and perhaps altering the story and theme a tad won't exactly set them back much.
Get it done Towers. It's a ride that has great potential if given a bit of love.

Thing is, it needs SERIOUS work to reopen. I believe me and a few others of this site were on last time it opened (@John @AstroDan @josht if my memory serves) and out of a group of 20 riders, about 4 rode it. It rejected so many normal sized people it'll need a heck of a lot done to make it accept them.

Surely that is just a sensor / calibration issue. Wouldn't be that big of a job, no bigger than the sort of work that goes on over closed season anyway.

I think it was due to the shared overhead lap bar restraints though. It might need brand-new seats and restraints.Surely that is just a sensor / calibration issue. Wouldn't be that big of a job, no bigger than the sort of work that goes on over closed season anyway.

It was a stickler with restraints wasn't it anyway? Didn't it have new restraints late 2014/early 2015?
I can’t see it reopening to be honest. It needs a lot of staff to operate at a time when trying to recruitment is difficult. Plus being in confined spaces with others will put a lot of people off in the current climate.
I would also imagine inside is still full of Scarefest props and I would see this more as a Scarefest attraction now than an actual ride.

Yeah in all honesty it's unlikely that anything will come of this other than a new Scarefest maze, which honestly I'd welcome as I'd rather the building was being used for something other than storage. If we are getting a new maze as opposed to Sub-Terra returning, it would be nice to perhaps theme it after Nemesis in some way. I could see this potentially happening, especially since we don't have an alien themed maze after losing Sub-Species and it would be quite easy to theme given that the building is already themed in line with Nemesis.

Does the Phanalax logo count? It'd be nice to get a small amount of scenic painting or themeing on the building. Unlikely but green tin shed isn't great.
