Nemesis: Sub-Terra

Whether you like it or not, it’s the only operational Nemesis related ride in the country at the minute holding up the Nemesis brand, as Nemesis Inferno is closed currently and has been for a while.

Personally can’t wait to get back on this later this year, providing I can actually fit onto it lol. I’m not your average slim guy, but never struggle getting on anything, but am slightly concerned about this.
Just because it has the word Nemesis in the title, doesn't make it any good.
It really isn't holding up the "Nemesis brand" at all...totally unrelated to the actual Nemesis ride apart from dodgy marketing and geographic location.
Whether you like it or not, it is a malfunctioning, staff intensive flat ride that has a limited future due to recurring problems that seem to be unresolved, despite years of opportunity to fix the damn thing!

Didn’t say that it makes it good. It is also related to the Nemesis storyline. Maybe it has a limited future, maybe it doesnt. Not sure on what way it is malfunctioning, as if something has gone wrong with it. It’s also your opinion that’s it’s not very good, as much as it is mine that it is. Also, me putting “whether you like it or not” was literally me saying, whether you like the attraction or not, not trying to be a little bit passive, as you’ve just done there.

It is malfunctioning because the restraint "one size doesn't fit all" system is slow and cumbersome, meaning capacity is reduced by two factors...the number of riders in each sequence, and the frequency of sequences.
It needed fixing before reopening...they didn't.
That hints at a limited future.
I wish more people liked it, it would keep them out of the coaster queues.

Sooo, it is a amazingly themed ride I have been on.. part of it. But I can agree with some bits it is a technical nightmare but we are sure to see that it gets better over the years and with it being staff intensive, that's a good thing, as it provides more jobs helping out economy. And most of all it is a extension to the Nemesis story so we don't have to expect the same old nemesis it is new and amazing. The Phalanx is Nemesis, the Nemesis egg is nemesis the disco eggs it is nemesis!!

Inferno is unrelated to Nemesis too, pretty much.
I don't understand how they didn't manage to fix those restraints in 8 years.

went on this yesterday, so a few thoughts:

1) Nice to have the ride back, it has made FV seem a bit more alive.

2) I forgot how well themed “bits” of it are, the new lighting in the post-lift pre-ride area is good.

3) They are still only loading 8 people on a tower but they seemed to have got a system going to get the restraints to close so fair play to them. They need a proper solution but well done on the ride team for working the problem as best as they could.

4) The drop sequence was good, lots of the new riders when we went on seemed truly scared.

5) They have completely and utterly f*ck’d up the final exit scene. I mean it was actually boring. How they hell they have achieved this is almost impressive in its stupidity.

Good to have it back, I think it’s a fun filler attraction so I hope it stays, just hope they fix the restraints and the final scene.

ABC have gone slightly overboard with a press release regarding the re-opening of Sub Terra. This can be read here.
Speaking of which from looking at the link onto their products page, it seems that they have a new model of restraint system for their tower rides as seen here which though seems just in the concept stage honestly looks more comfortable than what we have now. Is it possible to retrofit it as I suspect if other ABC tower rides are having the same problem as Sub Terra is then it might be worth a small investment to install over a closed season?

From the article: Alton Towers Resort reopened its hugely popular drop tower dark ride by ABC Rides, Nemesis Sub-Terra. Wouldn’t exactly call it popular imo

I worked on park at the time of the initial opening, it was definitely popular in its 2nd version.

I think the biggest disappointment for me was the first lift, which takes you down to the tunnels not shaking at all to give the feel that your moving. The first thing Annabelle said to me when we got out was along the lines of that was a fake lift, we did move at all.

I was surprised that I still managed to fit in, as I don't have the smallest thighs.

I dont mind the ending not having actors in, the corridor on the way out is scanning for alien life signs, and as you exit, gives you the all clear. Its not perfect, but its no worse than the long corridor to walk out after Hex.

Today it's having a bit of a sub-terrible time of it. Didn’t open till this afternoon and then stood in the queue for ages whilst technical issues- said they’d fixed up- lined us all up and gave us the briefing including the new ‘larger guests may find the restraints some of the most restrictive on resort’ and then were told to leave the ride again. Then evaced the queue!
Staff said since storms they’ve been having issues with the special effects and getting everything to sink up. Poor staff were so fed up bless them.
