Nemesis: Sub-Terra

It seems they must have done the winter maintenance during the closed days this year. I did it on Friday and it was all running very well, even the TVs were all working in the pre show.

The one thing that is weak now is the ending without the actors, and the changes made when it returned as it’s just a bit dull now.

Assume this is due to it being one of the last rides with uncovered outdoor staff point. Or maybe to encourage more riders.

Hopefully they consider making some improvements inside the ride as well (restraints/lifts/post show and egg nest)
To be honest Nemesis Sub Terra doesn't need much its a great experience mostly the final elevators and all 4 Towers. Its one of the most immersive rides especially in the egg observation chamber.

It really isn’t a great ride, it’s fine aesthetically inside but it’s badly designed, with a mediocre ending.

Add to that the bad restraint design and adding to poor throughputs and you get mediocrity.

It is meant to be a filler ride. But when your on the ride you feel like your underground. The restraints and ride design is bad but that was on ABC Rides would be better if the drop towers had individual restraints came down on their own like Toxicator

it dose need new restraints, I believe you can get individual seatbelts for it (although I think there was an incident where someone sat on top of their seatbelt instead of attaching it and fell out

That’s why I said it’s fine aesthetically inside.

Hex is a filler dark ride but it’s amazing how different the quality at every level exists between Hex and Sub-terrible.

It’s better that it’s open than closed but it is at best a mediocre ride.

Sub Terra's problem was that while the concept of the theme and story of the ride is actually good, they chose the wrong ride system.

Had they just copied and paste the ride system from Alien Encounter from WDW which let's face it Sub Terra was loosely based of that infamous ride, I have no doubt Sub Terra would have not only been received far better but might never had needed to close in the first place. Hell, the Germans already have a knock off version on the fairground circuit so it wouldn't be much of a stretch if Merlin had gone with that ride system instead as seen here.

Yes it would have been far more of a rip off of Alien Encounter had Merlin done this instead of drop towers but all in all would have been better received and would have absolutely would have been justified of that infamous 12A rating Sub Terra got back in the day in which like any Merlin attraction never lived up to the hype.

That's not true there are plenty of attractions that have lived up to the hype what's funny about Sub Terra people did miss it when it closed and now its back it really adds something unique to the park

It has been flawed from Day 1, the lack of and subsequent poor endings, the restraint problems, the low throughput for high staff requirements, the misdirected acting of the hosts etc

People really disliked Sub Terra when it first opened but then when it closed in 2015 after many years people wanted it to return, as soon as it did people appreciated it more after it wasn't there for so long

I can’t lie I really do appreciate sub terra. Even with its restraints, they seem to have it operating reliably compared to its original run. It’s usually has one of the highest up-times
