Nemesis: Sub-Terra

Ahh that’s a shame! The little judders it does back up the top tease you into thinking it’s going to drop again (reminds me of X/The Walking Dead on the stop/start section) so it’s a bit anticlimactic when it doesn’t drop.

ABC drop towers have a catch car that takes the gondola to the top of the tower and then has to reverse back to the bottom of the tower before the gondola drops.

It’s why the original dungeons towers had a show scene at the top to occupy the riders whilst the catch car went back to the bottom.

I'm sure that makes perfect sense with a diagram, but all I can picture in my head is an Intamin style catch car that descends from above to pull the car upwards, drop it, then has to descend to the bottom to pick up the car and haul it back up.
???

Did this for the first time on Friday (didn’t visit the years it was originally open and first visit in 2 years!). Thought it was great fun and much better than expected, the 2nd lift was unexpected too and gave my friend a good scare. Glad they got this thing open again! As someone who didn’t experience it the first time it opened, you’d never know it was nearly 12 years old.

Has it always only done 1 drop? I think it would really benefit from a 2nd drop.

They need to sort the restraints out though, did the ride twice and both times the staff had to jump on the restraints to get them down.
I also went on for the first in a long long time. I tend to skip Sub-Terra as it is not a ride I am overly fussed about but there was no queue on Friday night so ticked it off. We had the same thing on the restraints where the staff were jumping on them. They also were picking on people and asking them to move to a different side as well as asking us to move over a seat or two. I wonder why they were doing this? Trying to get a similar weight on each side?

I noticed as well the ending was slightly different to when I went on it last. I remember after the elevators (which didn't vibrate at all on Friday) there were a few live actors that jumped out and ushered you out the exit. The ending section now has an extended part after the cages with the very loud air cannons.

Are the actors in the exit being utilised for the mazes or did it just so happen that my run through on Sunday had no actors?

I was mentally preparing myself for it then realised a) there was none and b) if there were any the caged section is tiny

They usually utilise them around the park for Scarefest so probably why you won’t see them in there during Halloween. Thorpe do the same with Ghost train and Walking dead.

How do they run Ghost Train without actors?

I’ve only ever ridden it with them and it’s very actor based so I can’t figure out how it’s ran without?
