Paultons Park: General Discussion

Supposedly so, yeah
Paultons’ move away from the unthemed rides could be really positive for Hayling Island. Hayling used to get a lot of their rides as casts offs from the Gulliver’s parks, but now that Paultons seems to be accelerating their removal of the unthemed rides, Hayling Island could really benefit. The thing is, they’re not bad rides, they just don’t fit in with Paultons’ new direction. They also seem to be very on it with maintenance so it’s not like they’re flogging off old rubbish. These are decent rides which have been well maintained and should therefore be very reliable for their new buyers.

A lot of the unthemed rides are also coming from reputable manufacturers for family flat rides such as Zierer and Zamperla which is very good for smaller parks like Funland Hayling Island.

It's certainly a plus for the smaller parks.

It makes me wonder though, do we know if there's any rumours about Raging River and where it's going?

I'd love to see it stay in this country and think there's quite a few parks that would benefit such as Lightwater Valley, Great Yarmouth, Dreamland Margate, Blackgang Chine or one of the parks on the ilk of Funland Hayling Island. 🤔 Even Alton Towers would benefit 😜

There's not even been an announced closure for the Raging River Ride; it's marked as closed every month next year, unlike the Dragon (as an example) which has now been removed completely.

We all know it's up for sale etc, but there's been no acknowledgement from the park regarding it's closure/removal. It's a bit odd.

There has been replies to queries on social media which the park does confirm Raging River is no longer an attraction at the park.

There is a one line sentence stating it is now closed on the map page: https://paultonspark.co.uk/map

Other than that, it seemed to have been a very quiet closure.

Could Kontiki and the Viking boats ride be moving and replacing the digger and seal ride as they will easily fit the new area.
Any of those smaller rides would be very easy for the park to move. But don’t forget that Paulton’s like to have the theming in their areas very cohesive, I’m not sure if Kontiki which is themed to a South American or Polynesian boat would fit in to a Viking themed area. Obviously the Viking Boats will fit right in to the new area and it’s pretty much a given isn’t it that will be moved there. The Pirate Boat ride could fit there as well but I do wonder if Paulton’s might want the opportunity to upgrade to a larger pirate boat ride as the current one is on the smaller side isn’t it.

I'm thinking the Pirate Ship, the Teacups and potentially the Dragon will have some form of like for like upgrade replacement.

I'm thinking they might want to go for a larger pirate ship and potentially, they might keep that smaller one as a junior ship.

The Kontiki and Viking Boats whilst they do fit, I don't think it's guaranteed they'll stick around. The Kontiki could easily be rethemed into a ship of any description.

The Viking Boats is something I'm thinking could either fit in or end up at Hayling Island in a few years time.

Let’s not forget the carousel isn’t that old. It was one of Paultons’ last unthemed rides. It’s a good quality reliable ride and the area it resides in is currently an unthemed area of the park. I think it’s safe to say that it’ll stay in that spot until that section of the park becomes a themed area, if it ever does.

The area around Kotiki and Teacups is just weird though. Totally unfitting with the rest of the park and particularly pointless now that the Jumping Bean and Jack are gone.

The only downside to the carousel is that every time a wheelchair user wants to ride a Team Leader must be called to setup the ramp. Which does lower its capacity.

I honestly think they may keep the Carousel as is and possibly keep it standalone in it's own area like with Ghostly Manor. With Ghostly Manor, it shows the park can do standalone rides that hold it's own area.

It is a ride that could easily stay as is and still fit in the park moving forwards.

The main difference between the Carousel and the Teacups is the quality of the hardware.

I never even heard they left. I was just at the park and thought “I know what we should ride next!

Where is it..?”
