Paultons Park: General Discussion

I think they were relocated and refurbished as water drop towers for Tornado Springs.

Anyway here is a very recent video of Paultons Park's dramatic development in the Western half the park, which is still in its basal stages:

When I was there this July (wonderful time), I had a strong feeling the prehistoric looking log ride from the 1990s and the go kart track were in their final year or so, but it seems unlikely the Cobra and the Edge will be going anywhere (but Cobra will be out of action for roughly 12-18 months; presumably rethemed or refurbished to fit into the Viking development).

Once again, I have a gut feeling Paultons will get an inverted coaster mayber similar to Chessington's Mandril Mayhem or a ground up 2020s take on Drayton's the Wave.

The Carosel doesn't need meddling with and looks like its own "hub" between the themed areas, and the main cateen/entertainment green space. The teacups will likely get quietly retired in the next couple of years.

They are different rides. The Windmill Towers in Tornado Springs were brand new Zamperla ones when the area opened in 2021.

Jumping Jack was also a Zamperla tower but that was relocated to somewhere called Jimmy G's Pirate Park Amusements located in Leysdown, Kent.
Jumping Bean was a Moser Rides drop tower and that went to Animal Farm Family Theme Park in Somerset.

Windmill Towers are actually Zierer Double Family Freefall Towers. The same as Tikal at Phantasialand and Poppy Towers at Europa Park.

They are getting quite popular as Legoland got theirs recently with Mythica.

They're very good quality compared to similar Zamperla or SBF models and surprisingly pack quite a punch for thrillseekers.

I can't see it either, nothing in the promo video hinted at a water coaster. Just wondering where that rumour came from as it's in the Dispatch Jack video. Very odd
I don't think it'll be a Mack Water Coaster honestly, I could be surprised but I'm thinking the coaster will be something else (most likely launched but could be wooden).

The water ride, I'm thinking it'll more likely be a Super Flume from Intamin (Biberburg, Chiapas, Catapult Falls etc.) or Interlink (Viking Voyage, Yuta Falls etc.).

Speaking of Dispatch Jack, it seems he was right about Dragon going to Hayling Island as parts of the ride have already turned up to the park. It seems to be replacing the Caterpillar Kontiki style ride at Hayling Island.

It's on UK Theme Park's video:

The water coaster rumour came from a Intamin water coaster, yes. I think a Mack water coaster would make a lot of sense given the park's planning restrictions. A water coaster definitely suits a Viking theme, given that Vikings sailed on long boats.. this would differentiate it a lot more from Vikings at Drayton Manor. Given that the park's travelling log flume is being dismantled, I think it's quite possible as a replacement ride. There's quite a bit of space on that side of the park for two coasters, so perhaps if there are two, then one of them could be a water coaster, and a second inversion focused coaster as teased a lot by the park.

My mistake, but thanks (Zamperla explains the similarities).

It seems a little implausble they'll remove or even relocate the Edge (likely becoming a viking helmet twin to Drayton Manor's version) but I have a gut feeling the Magma may be relocated to the Lost Kingdom.

Ghostly Manor will in all likelyhood be a smash hit, so there's a probability of a 2nd dark ride.

Magma always seemed like a bit of a test run for Lost Kingdon anyway with it's theming, it will fit right at home there if they move it.

Yeah, it even has an animatronic dino lurking inside that is a prototype for all the many other archosaurian animatronics inhabiting the more fully realised Lost Kingdom (too chicken to go on it at the time).

The Cobra, Edge, and Magma are still all rock solid mid range thrill rides, they're just parked in an area that remained barebones for over a decade after the rest of Paultons started modernising (and now it's been addressed with the Viking expansion).

A Chiapas style Intamin flume would be fantastic, and I think it could be a great paired with a Vekoma Shockwave multi launcher like Abyssus. I had been a little disappointed initially that the park were going with a Viking theme for this area just because it’s a theme we’ve already seen in recent years at a British park but looking at it now I’m sure that Paulton’s are going to do something brilliant here that will knock it out of the park. Just imagine if we got something that was the UK’s answer to Klugheim in terms of theming and immersiveness.

Wow, that would be impressive!

A Chiapas style flume intertwined with a Taron style launch coaster with Klugheim theming. Intamin could knock this out of the park.

It would really put Paultons on the map and could be the equivalent to what Towers did for Nemesis in 1994.

I have a feeling that the approach to theming will be less realistic and more of an animated look however it'll still be impressive.
