Paultons Park: General Discussion

Drakon won't even be top 10... heck I don't even think it will be the best coaster at Paultons. However it will do exactly what Paultons wants... it will be a perceived "big boy" coaster in a family park.

It will do very well for the park, just not to be appreciated by most coaster fanatics who dislike it already because it's a eurofighter, got OTSR and isn't what they wanted.

Wow, I certainly didn’t expect my statement to cause so much controversy.

don't lie and claim you didn't say it when the evidence is literally quoted in the post above

Just to clarify, I never claimed that Paulton’s Park had a good coaster line-up, as I said, it is at best ‘decent’, but by no means is it bad, it has a fairly intense family spinner, and a fun Gerst Bob with nice airtime.

He said in the future they will potentially have the UK's 2nd or 3rd best coaster. By definition that means the existing coasters rank lower

What I said, which the member below correctly interprets, is that it is an okay coaster line-up, which will soon be improved through the addition of Drakon, which, I believe, will be a Top UK coaster.

objectively ludicrous

As for your statement that my belief that it could be a top UK coaster is ludicrous, I simply have to disagree. Obviously it will be worse than Hyperia, but that is the only certainty. I doubt it will be better than Icon, but it very well might be, so I presume it’ll settle somewhere from 3-6, where currently, in the UK, I have The Odyssey, Saw, Mumbo Jumbo, and Rita.

No one, least of all myself, ever accused you of claiming the park currently has a good coaster line up (or as you later put it "the best coasters"). That is a straw man you've constructed to deflect from the original point of contention.

To be painstakingly clear:
  1. You stated, unequivocally: "Drakon, which could easily be the UKs 2nd or 3rd best coaster."
  2. I responded, challenging this specific, and frankly ludicrous, assertion by comparing the ride to a standard model in fancy dress. My critique was solely directed at the coaster's future ranking.
  3. You then replied with the baffling statement: "I never said the park has the best coasters", before immediately restating your original claim in the very same post: "Drakon, which looks like it will be one of the UK’s best coasters."
The subsequent attempt, aided by others, to frame my simple act of quoting your own words as some form of "misinterpretation" is gaslighting of the highest order. The issue was never when the park would have a top coaster; it was the absurdity of the claim that this specific coaster would be one.

If someone claims a park is about to open the "UK's 2nd or 3rd best coaster", they are explicitly claiming that the park will soon possess one of the best coasters in the country. Denying you ever said the park "has the best coasters" is contradictory nonsense.

It is not a matter of interpretation. It is a matter of basic reading comprehension. The words are right there on the screen for all to see. To suggest that I, or anyone else, has misinterpreted them by simply reading them as they were written is an attempt to shift responsibility for a logically incoherent argument.

You made an audacious claim. When challenged on that specific claim, you responded by denying you had made an entirely different claim that no one had accused you of making. This is not a misinterpretation on my part, but it is a textbook example of shifting the goalposts.

My apologies, I clearly misinterpreted what you perceived the issue with my statement to be. In any case, I believe Drakon could rank anywhere from being 2nd to 7th in the UK, at least in my opinion. It seems to have some interesting elements that should make it very good by UK standards.

I think we can draw a line under all this now, we don’t need further comments about the thread being “exhausting”.

I would however politely ask people to read my recent post in Guest Services as it’s relevant to much of today’s discussion. The back and forth between 2 or 3 individuals of who said or meant what (which eventually was resolved as a misunderstanding) is really not of interest to the vast majority of people.

Moving topic on will Paultons Park ever build something on the grassy area between Lost Kingdom and Ghostly Manor a massive unthemed spot with no rides

I hope not.

On my first and only visit earlier this year, one of my favourite things about the park was the amount of breathing space it had. All the green areas felt really well maintained (in fact all the plants around the park looked cared for, even the flowers in and around Grampy Rabbit’s Sailing Club) and it was nice to stroll around and feel surprisingly well separated from the busyness elsewhere.

Rides rides rides rides would lose Paultons a lot of charm.

The area that Digger Ride and Seal Falls occupy would be a decent development area, and far less of a loss.
