Paultons Park: General Discussion

I would be lying if I said I was hugely excited for the Euro-Fighter itself. It was absolutely not my personal first choice for the park, and while I’m willing to be proven wrong, I do wonder whether Paultons could have chosen something better even within their target audience and budget range. I’m disappointed that they succumbed to the orthodoxy on OTSRs given that they’re such a forward-thinking and disruptive park in other ways and rides like The Wave, Icon and Hyperia prove that the UK public will go for lap bars on a looping roller coaster.

Euro-Fighters as a model are a good 15 years behind the curve in major parks and ones that have been building them more recently are smaller parks than Paultons. With Paultons evidently wanting to enter the UK big leagues and progress, I was perhaps hoping to see something a bit more ambitious.

However, the overall land does look very good so far, and I have every faith that Paultons will continue their record of making very detailed and well finished off lands based on what we’ve seen so far. It is lovely to see this slightly barren area of the park finally get its themed glow up!

I'm pretty sure the lap bar Eurofighter trains have a higher rider height restriction though, and Paulton's obviously want to keep that as low as possible. Plus, given that the vertical lift and beyond-vertical drop will be intimidating for some kids, I do think OTSRs will offer a degree of reassurance to them.

Now, this could get fiery, and I may regret starting the debate, but...

Is Raven a new cred, yes or no?
New Cred? Depends if you've been on Cobra or not

If you have, no it isn't, it's just rethemed
If you haven't, it's a brand new cred

I will mention I've heard somebody actually counts rollercoasters being relocated so they count Olympia Looping each time it's been at Hyde Park and at Prater as an example 🤣 If an SBF Visa spinner got put onto my back garden, they rode it and rotated it by 90 degrees, it'd be a cred in their eyes 😂

So each to their own really but personally, rethemes don't count nor do relocations in my eyes 😁

Depends how much is changed I consider Wave and Shockwave as two different rides as both run completely different.

But also Ice Mountain and Fantasy Mouse as the experience on an indoor coaster is different to an outdoor.

Raven may run the same or different to Cobra.

Will say with Olympia Looping it does run differently when at Hyde Park to Wiener Prater having a shorter train at Wienet Prater. Also location can also impact the experince with different views or interactions with other rides

No, its just repaint and new name.

Whereas I think Nemesis Reborn is just a new credit as its new track as well, but I can understand why others wouldn't agree.
I decided its not, but if you were to take the removed track and re-built it with new sections for the station and lift hill I'm not sure. As then there would be 2 Nemesis coasters.

Changing trains like Shokwave to The Wave I don't count either.

Has to be a significant change like an RMC conversion or Top Thrill 2 as they added the spike and the extra launches. If it was just Dragster with an LSM launch I'd not count it as new.

Its different with this case as the experience is completely different and a lot more comfortable for Wave

I'd agree with this. It's a different ride on the same track.

Retracking however is not a different ride. You're likely to have the same varying experience on any coaster from different seats on a train, different weather or even riding at a different time of day as you are riding Nemesis ReBorn vs the original. In theory a retracked coaster will be smoother but over time it will change so that doesn't make it valid as a cred imo.

The Cobra/Raven trains will still be the same overall experience in that regard.
