Phantasialand: General Discussion

I'm planning a trip to Phantasialand (it is likely to be a weekend in late April) - is one day enough, or is it best holding off for a two-day visit?

One day is enough, particularly at that time of year. However you'd benefit from staying in one of the resort hotels the night before to make the most of ERT. You can get Taron done several times without even leaving your seat as a result.

I would personally reckon the reason it takes so long could be to do with budgets and spreading the cost over a longer period.

I don’t mind it taking a bit(lot!) longer she. You get the quality of project that they are capable of delivering compared to some of the rush jobs we see here

Although, ,as I have said before, Phantasialand seem to get away with doing almost nothing during the in between years.

It took them TWO years to build Taron/Raik/Klugheim.

Silbermine had probably closed ever before 2014, don't recall.

And not groundbreaking? It's a launched new gen flyer from the current Vekoma renaissance mixed with Phantasialand themeing. Certainly one of the more interesting projects going on right now.

Most people overlook PL’s shows, which are actually pretty good and they’ll take you the best part of a day to experience.

Taron is over-rated but you will want to re-ride Maus like nothing else...

It depends what you’re into. You can do the park in one day as others say, but you can find yourself darting between rides at some points, and it only takes one ride to have a diva day (*cough*River Quest*cough*) to throw you off.

If it’s your first visit I’d advise 2 days. You’re able to take it a bit steadier with the rides, take in the theming and areas, you’ll have enough time to see all of the shows, and chance to sit down at lunch at somewhere like Rutmor’s, Mandschu or Unter Den Linden rather than a grab and go option (dining is another area I sometimes think gets overlooked at PL, although the quick service options are still good).

You know you best. Some people are only interested in the creds, and if that’s the case then you’ll probably come away from one day satisfied.

I think it’s less over rated now. It had a mad first year where everyone was fapping over it but I think most reviews are pretty accurate. It’s incredibly fun, well themed and enjoyable. Its just let down as it dies a bit due to the trims at the end.

If it's a term time week day, one day is enough.

Phantasialand is lovely and it's no disrespect to say it's a one day park.

Strangely, I'd almost say that Taron's praise seems to have risen as more people have ridden it. Around opening, you did have people who loved it, but I also heard it described as "a well themed family coaster", "the steel version of Balder" and "Europe's Cheetah Hunt". The praise seems far more unanimous now to me.

Nonetheless, Taron and Phantasialand both look phenomenal, and I'm sure you'll have an amazing time regardless of how many days you go for!

Got to be honest, I don't like it at all.

Got to agree Rob that looks awful, I have to ask but is that the finished(ish) look? I am sure if they wanted a steampunk whatever that is, they could have leaned a little more into the Jules Vergne vibe. Looks more like a waste disposal!

On the plus side they'll never have to wash it.

Well, that’s certainly a choice. I’m a fan of corten steel when done right (that means not covering an entire building with it) but this looks terrible.

A very bold decision that certainly hasn’t paid off for me.

I quite like it, it's bold and extremely stylised. I can see the rooms being quite edgy and industrial but those warm tones might make it quite cosy (all assumption of course, they could also come off as prison cells if there is too much cold metal).

I think it looks more fallout bunker than steampunk, but I think a really strong and out there theme is good. It will be interesting to see how it develops.

I do kind of agree though, it might have worked better with just the top sign part being rust style. I think the bunker door would make an amazing feature domed window, if it shined light into the foyer.

Perhaps it's not finished yet? Those chimneys look particularly small and fake.
