For all the flack this got during construction, I must admit I do really like the (nearly) finished product; well done, Phantasialand!

Frames for new info/wait time screens at the Rookburgh gateway on Berlin street have been installed. And intriguingly the tape and markings for Lilli's Cafe which had been stuck down inside the gateway on the right have been removed - clearing the entry way to the Rookburgh gates.

Not sure if this was ever posted or not, but we now have more up to date drone footage of Rookburgh, seemingly taken on 26th June (so the area has probably progressed since then):

Considering this isn’t the finished product yet, it still looks pretty stunning!

From that you realise what a tight area the ride is in, also looks like plenty of near misses hopefully.

Phantasialand are holding a staff preview event on 7th September for F.L.Y. and the hotel. Still no word on a public opening but it definitely is coming closer.
Taron's staff previews were a week in advance for comparison. Seems before September is over Rookburgh might actually at long last open!

The hotel entrance is definitely looking much better than it did at first, although I am still not a huge fan. I think it comes down to what you want from a hotel. If you desire an impressively themed experience as part of your stay then it will no doubt be brilliant. If you want more of a traditional hotel with a more luxurious vibe then maybe not.

As for the area itself, that drone footage really shows how much they have managed to squeeze in to such a small space.

My initial reaction to the drone footage is a bit “meh” if I’m honest, though it is a lot of ride in a small area from first glance it appears the coaster overawes any theming.

That said air footage is always a dodgy way of looking at these sort of installations so I will hold fire until it opens. Surprised after all this time they are looking to open this year with all the restrictions. Would think it would be best to delay until 2021.

Why though? The pandemic doesn't end in the new year, its quite likely restrictions will still be around come Easter 2021 in German parks. They'd incure the cost of maintaining/mothballing a completed area, coaster and hotel with no return in times of financial hardship. Plus you might as well hope to drive more footfall in the extended Autumn/winter season to help balance the losses from lockdown.
Phantasialand marketed Taron as new for 2 years I'm sure the same will happen with F.L.Y. will and the hotel has such an unique selling point for well into the future.

Even just looking at projects across Europe overall (excluding those were work literally couldn't be finished in any reasonable time due to lockdown delays) Max + Mortiz, Batavia, Wakala, Objectif Mars, Hals-Über-Kopf, Asterix's new hotel and YULLBE (in 2 weeks) still opened this year. Only exceptions where fully finished rides were held back are Towers' small dark ride and Thorpe's maze.

Because you won’t get the same impact and the year is almost up even factoring winter season. After all the time they have waited getting this thing built i’m surprised they are not gambling on a better 2021 season. Most of the attractions you quote opened in May/ June, that still leaves the majority of the season, this isn’t going to open until September at the earliest.

That said the park desperately need ride capacity as it is doing pretty woeful at the moment with crowds and Covid restrictions so I suspect they are more keen on trying to have more space to spread into.

I must say i like the grey rockwork look that's next to the rusty look and i would have preferred that as the stand out colour as it just seems a bit too ugly i think though i think the coaster will be good. Best flying coaster in the world over Tatsu and Manta? We'll wait and see...
