Phantasialand: The irregularities and irritations of one of Europe's best parks

Hey! I'm also visiting for the first time next month from Tues 11th Oct- 13th Oct so will let you know how busy it is. I'm hoping it should be relatively calm, can't wait to finally get on Taron et all. Third time lucky with this trip so hope it all goes well.

We didn’t have too many “irregularities and irritations” during our visit.

When we booked Hotel Charles Lindbergh we sent them a message with regards to the bank transfer and they replied with a link allowing us to pay via credit card.

The lack being allowed to re-ride was an annoyance. We asked on Black Mamba and the staff made us “pretend” we were leaving the station as the last guests before letting us back on so no-one else saw.

Fly allowed me to ride wearing glasses with a strap without any issues which was a positive.

The ride does though given Zadra a run for its money for the longest queue line going. 1.5km I was told by an employee. I was tempted to jump the barrier at the bottom of the hotel guest entrance.

Presuming the portocabin toilets on the right walking towards Wuze Town are a temporary measure? The only lack of theming I encountered in the whole park.

The Wakabato boat ride in this area was also pretty pointless with no water effects working. That area feels a bit lost and on it’s own (a bit like the top level of Wuze Town)

The whole China Town area is also pretty pointless with no stand out attraction and two rides that equate to 30 mins of my life I will never get back.

The boat ride is up against the local housing so they can’t have any noise from the area. On a Sunday they close that part of the park, it’s all very weird.

Does anyone know when the normal Phantasialand season is?

I’m trying to plan a trip there this year but whenever I go to book tickets they’re only taking bookings for Wintertraum which runs up to the end of January?

It was around January this year I think, so would expect similar for next year once they've confirmed the inevitable price increase. Worth noting it is possible to get cheaper tickets on occasion unlike Europa-Park. Keep an eye out on the European versions of HotUkDeals next year, Pepper NL and MyDealz in Germany. This year I ended up getting my tickets through a Dutch auction site Vakantie Veilingen at about €10 per person less than the website price. So worth shopping about, even if translating etc can be a bit of a hassle :)
 
Just got back from my first visit and after reading this thread was slightly concerned about it, but happy to report quite a few of the irregularities have gone.

First of all, everyone now has the option to pay online by credit card and in fact this is now the encouraged payment method. Arriving quite late, we were greeted at the front desk of Matamba by name, which was very nice (must have been last to check in), and although the process was still lengthier then other places it wasn't too bad. It was explained to us upfront that bar food stops at 1900, park kitchens shut at 1900, with snacks only after that and otherwise we needed to book the buffets.
In terms of ride queues, everything was moving very well in terms of operations, as only Berlin had early queue closures (1930) with everywhere else being 2000 which was really good (or I guess normal!!).
Overall we had a fantastic first trip and the room quality in Matamba and the park as a whole really surpassed my expectations actually.

So glad to hear this. There's something about that place, it's captivated me and I can't think of another park I'm most looking forward to revisiting. Motamba I found to be excellent.

Still find it weird that they have no non-buffet food options after 7pm (except the expensive place in Matamba).
 
I’ve got Phantasialand booked for this weekend - flying out early Saturday morning, 2 days on park staying in Charles Lindbergh Saturday night + some holiday inn express I was able to book Sunday, and flying back Monday.

Looking at queue-times, it appears that both Saturday and Sunday are meant to be rather busy - is there an advised route to approach the park beyond prioritising Winja’s for the obvious throughput reasons? F.L.Y. thankfully I’ll have hotel access once each day.

It was rammed on Friday and I'd imagine it was even worse over the weekend.

FLY and Taron open with huge queues because a lot of people wait at the entrance, so you're best off getting Winjas and Colorado out the way early as these tend to be quieter when the park opens.
 
Heading to Winjas/Crazy Bats first before the masses shift over from the major rides near the entrances is always the best tactic.
 
Check individual ride opening times as there may be something worth doing before 10 (possibly Mamba?). Fly and Taron often open with long waits so heading to ether of them at 9.59 is generally a bad idea. Doing at least one side of Winjas (and Crazy Bats, if you're bothered) is generally a good strategy.
