Ride Access Pass and Disabled Access - 2026 Discussion

It did get noticed, hence why they added a automatic expiry, it times out if left on the screen too long.

Anecdotal reports on here said people were queuing in the RAP line for approximately 45 minutes for The Smiler and WickerMan last weekend so the time out must be quite lengthy to have accommodated that... unless the QR code is located deep into the queue, in which case RAP users will have cumulatively been waiting longer than the main queue.

The system works!

QR code locations are:

Smiler - Left of the Entrance portal
Wickerman - On the outside at the entrance of the RAP queue.

So depends when you scan for Wickerman really.

Couldn't say how long it times out for. Might test it at Legoland next week.

I wonder if that got changed in the latest update

We used RAP for the first time at Chessington this season and unfortunately it is a gigantic step backwards compared to last year.

The horror stories of last weekend at Alton Towers were in full effect.

Vampire had the longest physical queue i've ever seen since we started visiting the park, extending back round the corner up past the animal enclosures. We ended up waiting over 30 minutes (on an advertised 55), which for us was only made possible by my son fortunately being in a fantastic mood and running off to play elsewhere whilst i queued on his behalf until the stairway.

You're asked to confirm the number of riders for every attraction you use but if there is evidently no capacity enforcement what is the purpose of this? Data collection? Every RAP user could simultaneously join the queue for the same ride in theory, it's ridiculous.

Some rides were strangely fine (Mandril and Gruffalo we walked straight to the merge points) but this picture was certainly reflected across other attractions including Croc Drop RAP also having the longest queue i had ever seen. We waited 20 minutes which was the same advertised time for the main queue meaning our time-out had expired before we even finished the first queue. There was clearly no way the main queue could have been 20 minutes.

Interestingly saw no Fast Tracks on rides where the queues were visible but perhaps that was a coincidence.

Staff were adamant at every ride that you click "i've finished riding" at your merge point, either doing it for you or visually confirming it. Obviously the hack has become an issue already and so the purpose of this feature is redundant. Why haven't they updated the app? Who knows.

The QR codes are generally located far from the merge points which is good but obviously in the case of Vampire it extended well beyond that, meaning people either had to find a way down there and scan it or unwittingly queue an extra 20 minutes before even starting their time-out, meaning a longer wait than the main queue.

The park was fairly busy but by no means a very crowded peak day (only Vampire and Fury exceeded 30 minutes) so i dread to think what one of those will look like. This was with all rides operating except the pirate ship. My wife did ask how we were going to visit in the summer and my answer was we won't, we'll go to Paultons, Adventure Island and Europe.

I do wonder if the system was designed to function with a much lower capacity with the knowledge they were changing the eligibility criteria and is subsequently unviable.

I get the feeling that pushback was the final straw for Merlin and they've adopted an exasperated "**** it" attitude to RAP for this season, with it being easier to leave frontline staff to deal with individual complaints than face the wrath of communal voices again.
