Ride Availability/Operations 2022-25

Not even in May just get one in at the same time as the new junior coaster. They'll be appealing to different audiences anyway. Seems to be a theme already of 2-3 rides out of action at the same time. I'd like to say I'd give the benefit of the doubt as it's opening day but hard to when ride availability has been shocking for 3 seasons now really

Without going off topic there’s a lot more to be shocked about this season than just ride availability from what I’ve seen/has been said today.

That being said. Looking at queue times now (14:05) 4 of the major coasters are down again. I think this is just the standard now.

What examples would you cite, out of curiosity? I haven’t heard of any horror stories yet, although I admittedly haven’t examined social media overly thoroughly.

The inevitable rolling sea of complains on Facebook - the event sounds amazing in theory but falls short as the park isn’t setup for such crowds anymore.
Do feel for those who sat for over 2.5hrs in Wickerman to be fire alarm evacuated at the preshow though

The problem of ride availability during the first few weeks isn't a problem contained to alton, Many non 365 operators have this problem, you have to remember the maitanence and ride crew have not been operating for the past few months with guests, from Ryan the ride mechanic normally rides get more reliable in the mid season, then start getting less towards the end.

I also think that it is better tha start of last year, I recall 13 was on 1 train for like 2 months, smiler was on like 2, etc.

Operations and availability have received the vote of low confidence from Shawn, it would seem:

It is a shame that the ride availability issues from 2024 still seem to be persisting at present. I’m willing to cut them some slack today seeing as it’s opening day, but I really hope this improves once things have settled a little.

I know we talk about poor ride availability in the opening week in these past 3 years but honestly, have they always been generally bad for the past 10 years?

Think thanks to social media magnifies the issues for better or worse though I'm afraid it doesn't hold anyone to account as we'd like to think, honestly who do you blame in that moment? You can complain all you like but let's be honest, nothing will change baring some miracle.

I don’t think opening day has ever been perfect, but I think it’s only within the last 2 years or so that it’s seemed to be this bad, going off of anecdotal reports.

Although with that said, my March visit in 2018 was not that great either… so who knows, really?

Hiccups on opening day are understandable, however several rides having prolonged (hour +) closures sends a pretty clear signal that they still haven’t addressed the underlying issues. Have a feeling that Toxicator’s tunnel being flooded with sewage may be a sign of where this season is heading. Oh dear..,

Thorpe was always the reliability nightmare. Towers used to seem to cope.

Exacerbated by often entering an area to have nothing to do when the coasters have closed.

It’s not been the best day operationally.
we’ve just been evacuated out of Galactica’s queue. Walked past Toxicator to get onto Nemesis to see the whole area surrounding Toxicator shut with security and first aiders. Looks to me as though they could have some drainage issues as the drains covers were open and overflowing.

Is Nemesis still open? The queue times website seems to suggest that Galactica is closed, but Nemesis was still listed as open.
