Ride Availability/Operations 2022-25

Because theme park worldwide posted a vlog with lots of misinformation, so they’re using their pool of content creators to get the word out there. It’s the point of the program and it works.

And this is why you should NEVER rely on one voice to get the whole side of the story.

Though after most of the content creators threw their toys out the pram for whatever reason can't be a big list of them left.

Have they? I know one quit before they even had the first event and they put a video out to explain why but have others since quit?

I've seen a few leave the content creator thing, and that's just the ones I'm aware of in my little social media circle . Made sure they got VIP access to Nemesis Reborn, Toxicator and Hex first so they could vlog it all, then suddenly found their morals and voice again right after that when they wanted their 'free speech' etc etc. The cynic in me thinks that they would still be on it if there was still a flashy new ride to vlog and get VIP access to before everyone else. But you know, I'm probably just a miserable person for suggesting such things and expecting people to have morals in 2025.

Regarding this so-called weather 'system' introduced in 2023....
Have the rides degraded over the years to a point which these additional measures are now needed?
Or is it that rides were operated at a higher level of risk previously, and in 2023 this was deemed no longer acceptable?

100% the second. H&S measures will always get more stringent over time, both as incidents occur and risks are reassessed, and also as the general climate (in the theme park industry, or indeed any industry... not the literal climate!) changes and appetite for risk decreases.

Despite the myths against "health and safety", there is an overarching concept of reasonable practicality - hence why cars aren't banned.

I'd be interested to know how many instances of people being hurt or put at serious risk under the 'old rules' prior to 2023. There are cost savings associated with the closures of recent years, albeit to the detriment of guest satisfaction and potential return income in the long term. I'm sceptical either way, and the explanation from Sammut seems really quite odd.

The reality of this is immaterial. What does matter is the value of the risk that insurance companies, who drive the majority of these control measures, place on it. That's why these measures are in place. To mitigate risk and to mitigate insurance payouts and premiums.

What exactly is odd about it? She’s merely said something the resort has always done (albeit updated over the years). She’s only had her hand forced to say it publically due to one misinformation spreader.

Had that vlog came out, there would have been no need. Anyone who was at the park and stayed, saw the storm that appeared. He didn’t even stick around to witness it.

She hasn't though, has she?

Suddenly, in 2023, half or more of the park's rides close in typically British weather? Based on events seemingly 60 miles away and many many hours in advance based on projection.

I'd imagine 60 miles is where they start monitoring rather than where they start closing. Not every storm within 60 miles will come close to the park, but it makes sense to pre-emptively monitor from far away on the off chance that a front eventually reaches the park.

Where does it say suddenly?

There has always been a provision for this kind of weather. They just updated how they did it in that particular year.

in the aviation industry the saying is:

"If you think the cost of safety is high, wait until you see the cost of an accident".

the same logic will apply here, the may have lost some money in refunds, dissapointed days, food. although in comparison to the cost if someone got injured (or worse) it is much more tollerable.

being cautious is fine, 60 miles is likely a limit of monitoring, they may close the rides if you have fast moving storms which are likely able to move in within a time limit (the wind speed you feel on the ground is nothing compared to the speed high in the clouds, the average storm can move at 20+mph, depending on wind speeds)

2023, she says it herself.

There has been a step change. They haven't even added anything new significant ride-wise since 2023.
Curse at Alton Manor Nemesis Reborn, Hex, Skyride been fixing what they have first.

Toxicator is a significant investment its the newly installed thrill Flat Ride in over 2 Decades last one being Submission
