Ride Availability/Operations 2022-25

It does say April, but it says they will open after Alton after dark has finished. I guess that’s only 7 days worth of operation. Oblivion and Galactica having single rider is a massive help
These will be incredibly helpful - I hope Thorpe Park are doing the same and announce a few more single rider queues this season.

We need more of these 😍😍😍

Be interesting to see where they have squeezed the SRQs in. Oblivion's station is jampacked enough as-is
Yeah this is a good point. I’ll probably start my day off with Wicker Man now, get to Rita and then 13, Oblivion, The Smiler & Spinball all have single rider which is great which the people you’re with don’t go on any of those. Nemesis is a queue eater as well so definitely positives with these single riders

13 also has single rider as well 🙂

Can't say I'm surprised, but it's not a great look to have 3 attractions not ready for the start of the season. Hex is the biggest disappointment, seeing as they put work in to it being able to re-open last year. I suspect it has needed yet more relatively substantial work over the closed season.

Maybe they’re tweaking it to move away from Disco Hex following feedback?

If I was a betting man I would say Hex and Skyride where not planned and there are unexpected delays but rapids was probably intended to open a little later.

I have no evidence for this just gut feeling.

I certainly hope that's how they'll do it 🤞
I think with Galactica, there are 2 options they may get RAP to go through the non ambulate RAP entrance (the other side of the restaurant) and get single rides to go down through the RAP entrance, and have odd groups go to that station, and even to go to the other station as it used to operate. or they could get RAP to queue with fast track.

Oblivion is much more different, I think it would make sense to merge fast track and RAP then have single rider go through the other enterance

couldn't galactica have fast track merged, similar to 13 and have the single riders go down the path that RAP used to use to the right station, and have odd groups

Urgh. I was hoping I'd have a bit less walking to do in March.

Nemmie still not having a SRQ is burdenous.
I was thinking this too. I would’ve rather they put it on Nemmy than Galactica. I mean Galactica has 2 stations and the single queue will only be for 1 station so there will still be empty seats

Think what they did in the past is send odd-numbered groups to the station wich meets the SRQ, and even-numbered groups to the other station.

They can batch odd groups to one station if gal.

I think with nemmy it is more of a problem of fitting it in, there aren't 2 enterances on the station, and you would really struggle to add a second, you could do via the exit but they did that for a while and it reduced capacity as it slowed Dow the station opps massively

I’d rather have Single rider on Galactica over Nemesis. Nemesis queue is a pain to walk but you can often get on it quickly because of its capacity. There’s been countless times I’ve skipped Galactica because of it being on about 50 minutes when Nemesis is walk on. Will massively help on Galactica

Hopefully doesn't keep extending onwards and onwards until it's "summer 2025".

Also hoping they haven't installed a sticking-out door shroud anywhere again this year too.

e: towers times are apparently stating oblivion and galactica now have a SRQ too. Interesting times... https://www.towerstimes.co.uk/news/2025/03/10/alton-towers-resort-update-march-2025/

Seems a strange “enthusiasts only” season update, given they’ve had 4 months, hopefully a more substantial update for across the resort is incoming.

I think from a practicality perspective the place needs to be running on full tilt, they just don’t have the ride hardware and ride capacity not too.

The Blade removal remains even more bizarre, the park is far behind on even the retro squad years at this point. With the upcoming Postman Pat removal, again things will get worse.

Being kind, skyride and rapids may just be due to time of year and not operating after dusk. Hex however is likely a hangover from previous years, or again being generous the AV team are sorting out the oddities…

I’m hoping for a mid season x sector flat to surprise us, as without the shows, Flávio’s, Blade, Dungeons. I’m not sure Hex and Skyride will contribute that much. Fair and sensible caps on RAP and fastrack should also be put in place to help all parties. But then again, what incentive for fastrack is there with low queues?…and why open more attractions if a large proportion of your visitors aren’t paying for entry?

The backwards Merlin business model strikes again. It’s managing decline.

I doubt they will bring anything but they just have to have some sort of flat rides in the park coming. Retrosquad plugged a gap that definitely needed filling, as bad as they were.

Would have thought it is more to do with the amount of staff required to operate them rather than work required doing to them.

Good to see more single rider queues making a comeback though. Will be interesting to see what rate Toxicator's moves though.
