Ride Availability/Operations 2022-25

Spinball Whizzer has not opened all day today, as well as Rita and Sub terra. That’s pretty poor!
Was on park today and queues weren’t as bad as we thought being Father’s Day/warm and with the poor availability.

We knew Rita and NST would be down all day and as you say Spinball was down all day too, so started in FV but Galactica and Toxicator were about an hour late opening. Toxicator felt like a 3/10 rather than 7/10 experience with no fountains working though.

The Smiler got EVACd from brake run at about 14:30 too. People were saying it’s due to bees swarming the brake run the past few days causing lots of stings and I’ve seen some comments about that on social media too, so that hit Oblivion’s queue which was on one station anyway (I don’t visit much anymore… is that the norm now as stacking three crafts on the brake run feels crazy)? Both Nemesis and Galactica and Skyride went up and down a few times too.

Th13teen and WM had amazing operations, and when it was open, seeing Galactica on 2 stations/ 3 crafts felt like a treat.

Well, what did they expect theming it in bee/wasp colours yellow and black...

Was there on Saturday and Oblivion was on one station. Nemesis (train 2) rattles pretty much the entire way round now. Didn't go on much as I was there for the house and garden tour (which was excellent), Smiler was down for quite a while but the forecast was windy so probably just that the winds picked up. I didn't notice any wasps/bees on my single go on the Smiler though.

It looks like two trains met and stopped before the vertical lift on The Smiler today, resulting in some downtime.

Has anyone seen this happen before? It's not something I've seen happen before, and I'm not sure how the block sections work on The Smiler.

I think there is the lift block, then the pre lift block. First car is on the lift block, second is on the pre lift block.

I have seen this before, the 1st train is on the lift hill block but there is a block before it.

If Smiler is running to full capacity, the train on lift 1 goes over the top before the train on lift 2. If the ride then stops before the train on lift 2 goes over the top the easiest way to get people off is to reverse the train down lift 2, resulting in the situation shown in the video.

There is also the ability to reverse and restart the train on lift 2. Not sure how it helps but I've been on it when it has done that.

I am guessing but often when a machine fails safe it likes to return to a programmed configuration it is happy with. I would guess it’s programmed to like a train to be at the bottom of lift 2 in certain circumstances.

But then again, you have been doing it for so long...
You get jaded with the same places.

I wouldn't say things are much worse than a decade ago, or even two decades ago.
Simply, people notice more now.
Stoppages, breakdowns, and extended repairs have always happened.

There are lots of major rides open today, in the sun, with short queues.
Today is a good day for the Towers, probably one of the last for a month.

Spinball is back today. Has anyone heard anything about Rita or Sub-Terra? Is it likely they are waiting for a part?
