Scarefest 2025

There are age *recommendations* which aren't enforced.

In terms of things to expect in a scare maze, darkness, enclosed tight spaces (in some cases), loud noises, actors (who might touch you and will get up in your face), potentially being split from your group, crawling (in some mazes), just kind of general overstimulation in every sense of the word for about 5-10 minutes (if you're reallllly going slowly to get value for your extortionate entry fee :p)
Thanks. Might be a bit much for him in the grown up mazes then. I will pass the info on nevertheless :)

If he really wants to try one I'd say Edge of the Forest, as it does not split groups up or have actors getting right in your faces like Compound and is less scary than Mine Tours.

My nephew is interested in trying out some of the scaremazes but he's only 10 years old. Are there any that are suitable for him. He obviously doesn't want anything too terrifying and he probably can't go on some due to age anyway. No idea about scaremazes as I don't have interest in them. Just wanting to pass on relevant info. Thanks 👍 :)
Recommend Edge of the Woods if you can its not the scariest maze in the world but is well done.

Would not recommend Altonville Mine Tours Tiny's Revenge or Compound as there much more intense mazes and scary.

Also recommendation the more you scream and have a reaction the more scares you will get. So try to remain calm

Thanks guys. I passed on the info. Looks like he's going to do the 2 scare zones (he might have done one of them already) and then possibly try one of Mine Tours or Edge of the Forest (Compound has been ruled out) 👍 👍 :)

I'm going on Saturday, but this is the forecast
I’m supposed to be going Saturday too. I’m hoping and praying the forecast improves a bit.
At the moment bbc weather shows it calming down a bit from about 4pm.
I’ve got Travelodge booked.

I haven’t been on Wickerman for over a year now and was really hoping for a night ride to cheer me up.

It does indeed look like clearing in Alton later on...unlike Blackpool.
The poor forecast will scare many off, so it could indeed be a good night.

Good point, thank you :)
You're welcome. Enjoy your day tomorrow. I know someone who's going tomorrow and they're not looking forward to the weather. I'm going on Saturday and I'm not either. But I don't think any day will beat the Saturday Fireworks of 2023 where it rained virtually non-stop all day and into the evening!

To be fair the wind and the rain wouldn't bother me as I'd be wearing my waterproofs (and it will put others off going and filling up queues), it's just the chances of it being a wasted trip if most of the bigger rides could be closed. Will have to have a look at the latest forecast in the morning and make a decision based on the wind 👍 :)

Same here, will be a shame if rides close but I believe it is due to clear up late afternoon on Saturday so may get some night rides in. I'm really only going for the mazes/zones on Saturday so as long as I get them done, I guess anything else will be a bonus in such bad weather!

Thankfully the forecast is looking a little better now, with the high winds tipped to recede from around 4pm, although I'm a bit worried that Edge of the Forest could be affected, given its queue line goes through a literal forest (don't want branches falling on guests, of course). I guess we'll just have to wait and see, and make the most of it!

That's half the fun! No point going to a theme park in a bad mood knowing the weather is going to be bad; you'll just end up having a rubbish time. Just take the weather on the chin and enjoy the day for what it is!

Big wet system lasting at least three days, only the crazies will be at parks this weekend, with most of the rides closed.

Crevettes all day it is then.

I don't really have a choice sadly, the issue is I'm pretty sure maze combos can't be transferred unlike day tickets can. I'd lose £68 (two people) if I changed my day, and have to spend another £68 on new maze combos. Plus my group may have their own plans now for the other dates we considered. We're just going to have to deal with it tomorrow and make the most of it, prioritising the rides we want to do during the short window of normal winds (yes, the forecast has changed again).

I am at the park today and while it is wet, as of writing this everything bar spinball is open. Oblivion has been on and off. Getting held on oblivion brake run in the rain is an experience indeed...

I doubt the scare zones will be open imagine the scare actors in this rain...
