SeaWorld Orlando: General Discussion

I think people went a bit crazy dogpiling on them after all the issues they had with Tillikum. My personal thought is that I will see the shows if I happen to be there and I have seen the shows in the past, but I am pleased that they committed to ending their captive breeding programme so that at some point in the probably not too distant future the orca shows will naturally fade out of existence so the direction of the park might naturally change.

I don't know what to make of dolphin shows or the places like Discovery Cove where you can pet and ride with them. They are just as intelligent as orcas, if not more, but because they seem "nicer" it's more acceptable to use them like this for some reason.
Do we know roughly how far that is away? How many orcas they have left etc?

I think they have like 5 each at Orlando and San Diego plus a few more at their other sites. So not many in the grand scheme of things but they don’t exactly have a short lifespan

I believe Sea World San Antonio removed the Sesame Street area when they refreshed that area of the park the other year.

Suppose if they lose the licensing it'll be quick re-themes all round, though they'll have a lot more to do with those two Sesame Place parks they operate.

Doesn't SeaWorld, United Parks or whatever they are called now, own Sesame Street only theme parks? I wonder what happens to those, although this is slightly off topic so I will leave it there.

A new survey has been sent out this week with hints at what might come next -

Giga Coaster (images look like a b&m)- billed as tallest continuous circuit coaster in America. It also the pitches same ride with a pirate theme.

B&M wing coaster

Indoor launched thrill coaster - also pitched with a time rift theme (inc sea monsters etc) - also suggests on board audio that would change with different seasons

Interactive kids dark ride - with aim of launching food to the feed the animals!

Sea lion cove -new sea lion area Inc under water viewing tunnel

New theme for Atlantis- siren and volcano theme

Largest aquarium in the USA- images indicate inspiration took from the Abu Dubai Seaworld aquarium.

Edit- other parks in the chain have also had surveys and some of the above ride concepts appear on those as well just with different themes- ie the giga on the Busch gardens surveys. It would make sense for the giga to go to Busch gardens tampa (as has been rumoured for the past decade!) with Seaworld already having a B&M hyper and Seaworld get something different.
