It's really clever though in fairness building such a unique ride. There are thousands of modern steel coasters that look very samey to a non-enthusiast but there's literally nothing else like this out there. It's incredibly marketable and gives the park a stand out ride again after losing the King.
I'm pretty sure that's the only reason they are getting something like this. They needed a new crazy monster that could be marketed to get people back who got spited. It's really clever though in fairness building such a unique ride. Gimmicks usually pay off in this industry though tbf.
Take Icon for example. A perfectly good launch coaster with a pretty long layout. A very re-rideable coaster even if it's not going to make many people's top ten coaster list. Now Imagine icon but with a 250-300ft spike element. I'd wager it would have brought Blackpool a lot more punters.
Oh absolutely its about marketability of something, if they'd installed for a regular launch coaster, after what they did with their biggest, most famous coaster it was hardly going to be a good look is what I was saying.Gimmicks usually pay off in this industry though tbf.

Just thankful I got to experience Kingda Ka back in 2009 when I was living in NYC.
