Was going to say I imagine it would be like the now cancelled Six Flags Dubai were they license the name and probably give their technical advice and contacts within the industry when the park construction is happening.

Plus for Six Flags it means they can continue to say they operate the world's tallest coaster (plus the new records).

Saudia Arabia are the worst human rights offending country in the world. Just facts as you like to say.

US firm engages with Saudi Arabia so it is going to raise eyebrows my friend.

That video of the coaster confirms what it is though. A publicity stunt. That ride will never be built.

Expect Six Flags to drop their name in the project before it opens. It is just sheer lunacy.

@Benjsh As I said, I am not defending Saudi Arabia - I agree regarding their human rights but that doesn't have much to do with roller coasters.

Also, as I said, there are vast numbers of American titans selling into Saudi Arabia at the moment. Apple have an iOS build specifically for the Saudi market. Why would Six Flags reselling their Bugs Bunny IP ruffle any feathers?

This video shows the masterplan for the entire site:

It certainly all seems very ambitous but it sounds like the money it make it happen is there.

This huge coaster does look somewhat unrealistic and the physics of it are all out on the virtual POV. If something like it does get built though then wow, it will be incredible!

Is bringing up 9/11 the modern day Godwin's Law?

People flock to visit Dubai and Qatar were awarded a World Cup, human rights mean very little when a big brown envelope is left on the desk...

The most insulting part of all this is the OTSR's.

I don't think they shouldn't have coasters. Why do I care if they do or not. I don't.

I was merely saying it's strange to have a US firm linked with them what with the current climate and all.

And even though it is only a license agreement it does seem a bit silly having a huge drop tower in Saudi Arabia with links to an American firm. It does seem incredibly insensitive what with 9/11 and the origin of the vast majority of hijackers.

Six Flags are a mess right now though so maybe I shouldn't be surprised.

No way that coaster will go ahead though. Looks like a ten year old did it on rct3.

Since 2009 the US has sold over $110 billion worth of arms to Saudi Arabia. I don’t think Six Flags being involved in building a theme park is really going to cause much of a stir based on that backdrop.

I also don’t understand the concern with a drop tower ride, there is no connection with planes being flown into buildings and their subsequent collapse. It’s just the installation of a bog standard ride that are in hundreds of parks across the world.

It's when they install an Air Race or Sky Fly we can officially be offended...

You will be able to follow the progress of this park, coaster and drop tower in your copy of the Daily Mail.

I always thought that New York City was wasting it's time with the whole 'Freedom Tower thing, when they could have simply installed a pair of S&S Double Shots.

This excellent video by Coaster Studios examines the park's plans and the group behind it. Worth a watch. :)

Why is it that people expect this to not open? Saudi Arabia has an effectively socialist internal economic model, normal commercial rules don’t apply there.

Yes, it may fail spectacularly but this is of little risk to Six Flags. It will be paid for and propped up by the Saudi state.

And America has little interest in morals when it comes to Saudi Arabia. It has long been identified as a country worth turning a blind eye to because of their oil reserves and markets for weapons and many others things.

I think the park could well open. It's the coaster I doubt will ever be built.

They won't build the tallest and fastest coaster in the world, or they won't build something that demonstrably wouldn't get around the track? If it's Intamin, I guess those things are not mutually exclusive.

As CS states in the video, the rendering won't be the final one. Just a rough first concept art.

Saudi are already pouring money into attempting to change their image. This is just one more of these projects. I see no reason for it not to happen unless the Prince changes his mind.

I’m kind of hoping it is built, if only to hear people saying it “looks slow” in the testing videos.
