Six Flags Quiddiya

It's safe to presume that any vlogger who doesn't have the express permission of Six Flags Qiddiya City is going to be pretty hard hit by the culture shock.
I did see the Coaster Breaks couple had to place their vlogging equipment in a locker prior to entering Boulevard World on their recent trip.

The VP of Sales & Marketing at SFQ seems an decent chap though, so if I was to be be whipping out my DJI Osmo I'd make sure I had him in my mobile phone contacts.

Wish vlogging was banned in every park now personally. Its had its day.

Theme parks are one of the purest forms of escapism and fun I can think of and I think its sad how thats now been hijacked and monetized by the YT brigade. Nothing is left untouched from it anymore.

Just before we go off topic into another vlogger criticism discussion and prior to coverage being posted…

Please remember this topic is for updates and discussion on the park itself. If you’d like to post creators’ coverage from the park, feel free to do so - providing you provide a description of what’s contained within the content/point out what you find interesting about it, add your own opinions if possible and credit them appropriately.

This isn’t the topic to have general discussion about vlogging at theme parks. We have a dedicated discussion topic for this where people’s opinions on it have already been discussed at length.

To credit those involved, this discussion around vlogging is only really relevant specifically to Six Flags Qiddiya as the first major park in SA. There is a political reality that effects vlogging uniquely specific to this thread, rather than the general vlogging thread. That is unless you want to move that discussion to a dedicated “The political impact of vlogging in Saudi Arabia” thread, but that arguably limits discussion even further (perhaps fitting given the regime being discusssed)

Read my post again. It was aimed at general discussion around vlogging. It was posted in response to a post giving an opinion that all vlogging should be banned, which is not relevant to this topic. It was also to clearly ask that if people post content that they credit and provide summaries/descriptions and personal opinions:

It’s no different to other posts I’ve made prior to wide scale coverage for multiple other new rides and attractions on the forum. Previous specific park discussion such as that provided by Gooseontheloose referring to the park’s policies has remained.

Not everything is trying to “censor”. I’m merely trying to avoid things going off topic prior to them doing so.

I really shouldn't have watched that after deciding I wont be going. That's really not helped me one bit. 🙃

Good lord. I mean whatever you make of the ethics of this park, you have to hand it to Intamin and the park's engineers/construction workers. They pulled of what we all thought was impossible. I remember the first "concept" POV of the ride appearing on YouTube and the comments section was flooded with jokes about it being "like something built in RCT3" "As if!" type stuff. Yet here we are...

This may well be the first coaster globally to be intense enough to result in post-ride adrenaline dumps. Might need a firs aid on-hand at the ride exit! I counted 7 seconds of sustained airtime over that camelback. Minimum. That following a downhill launch at speeds most people never experience outside of an enclosed vehicle.

Absolutely mental. Typical gulf state "let's propose the most massive, insane thing... then actually build it". Can't wait to hear the first reviews!

Coaster Studios have attended tonight so they might be the best bet to keep an eye on their socials.
With the caveat that their content will be viewed and approved by the PIF / their media handler first. The review is unlikely to be constructive, or unbiased. It will not be allowed to be. It will be overwhelmingly positive, at least until they are safely out of the country.

That being said, if they ever want to be invited back, or have permission to film other Saudi Arabian projects, they will have to toe the line too.

I’m sure they have to allow at least *some* criticism, otherwise it looks obvious they’re censoring.

On the being invited back front, I’m sure they’re not going to stop Taylor at customs on the basis of him saying “Those trims hit hard man”

You are applying the logic of a liberal democracy, where credibility is currency, to an absolute monarchy where control is currency. They do not care if it looks like censorship to a British enthusiast on a forum; their target audience is the domestic population they are placating and the international investors they are wooing, neither of whom require a balanced review of an Intamin rattle to buy into the vision.

No, the Mukhabarat aren't going to drag Taylor off to a black site for mentioning a brake run. The consequence isn't arrest, it is excommunication. Influencers trade entirely on access. If they post a video that is anything less than glowing, they simply won't be on the list for the next giga project. Self censorship is far more effective than state censorship because it hits them directly in the wallet.
