Six Flags Quiddiya

I love that it's a rollercoaster that gets more and more bonkers as it goes along. I can't think of another one that does that, the majority tend to peak at the start (predominantly due to the gravity requirements for motion).

To be fair with the multi launch coasters that exist now it can be argued that the second half of some of them is better. Nothing quite on this scale though granted.

That Cliffside drop and huge air time hill will never be topped in our lifetimes. This is without a doubt the concorde moment.

Whatever you say about records not being everything, or however you feel about the park itself, this ride does look truly insane! That cliffside drop and giant airtime hill will be like nothing else out there, and I still can’t quite get over the fact that the ride goes down a huge drop and then launches further downwards… the acceleration effect of a launch that is working with gravity rather than against it could feel absolutely ludicrous, I feel!

Principally, in an era where it feels like so many parks are cutting back, I absolutely love the spirit of “we’ve got this insane idea, let’s just go ahead and make it happen”. It feels like a nice flashback (if I’d been around in this era to witness it) to the maximalism and bombast in the coaster industry of the 1990s and 2000s. We don’t get many rides like this built anymore, and as someone who regrets the fact that I wasn’t around to see this golden age of brilliant, bombastic record breaking coasters, I love that the construction of Falcon’s Flight is giving me a taste of what that era was like!

And at last a full uninterrupted PoV:

Appears to be filmed with an empty train, so presumably running a little slow

Not sure of that kind of power-up whine will ever get old for me.

It does amuse me though that it launches itself to the top of the cliff then just seems to pootle around a bit like a glorified big apple coaster before the big drop

I wonder if that was from one of the dress rehearsal runs for the opening ceremony? Because it has some of the fireworks but not the ones going up and down the launches.

I don't get the brakes on top of the cliff. Kinda kills the momentum and flow a bit.

The whole cliffside section reminds me of Cheetah Hunt.

I'm gonna guess that POVs don't do the sense of speed justice, but in a world of quick transitions and ejector airtime it just doesn't appeal to me. If it were just the final section after the big hill maybe it would work better?

I disagree. The breaks on the cliff edge really add to the thrill I'm sure and make that 10 times more scary as you can truly appreciate just how high you are and also take in the views a bit too before you drop.

A lack of speed isn't an issue as it generates more than enough from a standing still start.

Still can't quite believe this thing is real. It's utterly bonkers.
