A lack of speed isn't an issue as it generates more than enough from a standing still start.

I agree, lots of anticipation building. Wonder if it's a giant brake block of sorts too? Will be interesting to see how many trains can operate. Considering the ride time is over 3 minutes, the throughput has potential to be rather dismal...

I've noticed through the POV that it has a dual load station, so that should help to an extent.

Edit: It also has separate unload stations as well.

It'll be the same style as GCE and Toutatis with it being fins I would imagine. You don't want something stuck on a block like that.

"6 trains with four cars. Riders are arranged 2 across in 7 rows for a total of 14 riders per train" according to whoever made the Wikipedia article for it.

Seems like it should be plenty but always depends on the station staff doesn't it.

The lead car only has one row, in case anyone is confused.
 
I wonder whether the park will modify their opening hours after everything beds in a bit. 4pm-midnight with a current sunset of 5.15pm in Riyadh means almost everything is going to be a night ride. I guess even in summer, sunset is still only like 630-7pm over there too so it will be interesting to see if at least in summer they hold off opening the ride until dusk so the wheels etc don't get too warm.

It's permanent magnetic brakes like Intamin have on Toutatis and even more strongly on Batman Gotham City Escape or Vekoma have on coasters like Abyssus.

They can't stop the train completely but can slow it to a crawl until gravity overcomes the braking force. I imagine that the cliff section is profiled so the train can't stall there.

It looks like the back row might still get a bit of airtime and the front rows will get crazy hangtime that will put any B&M dive coaster to shame.

Do the trains have onboard audio? That's what it really needs there for the dramatic suspense.

For someone who is probably completely immune to most things on a rollercoaster by now he does seem genuinely taken aback by a few moments on the ride.

It is very impressive, and I'm sure that the vast majority of people who ride it will enjoy it.
 
It's very impressive, it must be said.

I can't shake the feeling however, thay some of it is just pointless meandering (particularly the first half of the coaster before the cliff drop) just to try and claim the longest record

You could argue that the first section also acts as a warm-up for the impending craziness.
 
Earlier in the thread we were discussing the potential airtime over the cliff drop on the back row. A back row POV has been posted and I’m sharing the link below in support of that element of the discussion. The mag brakes certainly trim the train to a creep but honestly the anticipation factor on top of that cliff probably adds just as much to the ride as faster whip down would.

I can’t help but think there’s going to be a lot of people moaning about how “slow” this looks but this must be an artefact of the recording devices used as both the front row and back row POVs seem almost pedestrian compared to the external shots I’ve seen.

Back row looks like it’s a winner for me, funny how everyone goes silent when they get launched up the top hat after the cliff drop

Having been fortunate enough to ride the late Kingda Ka on the back row, the videos I’d seen prior just couldn’t come close to doing the ride justice - the sheer power of the launch and breakneck speed. I’d imagine it’s the same situation here. They were stunned into silence I imagine!
