Skyline Park - New for 2016: Maurer Monorail

It all looks rather odd, belongs in the weird ride topic really!

I guess it's just a trial to see what they can do with they type of ride. The throughput looks a bit crap

So, Skyline park have announced that they will not be getting any more "spectacular new attractions" in 2018 or 2019, however they will have a large new €10 million attraction in 2020. It has been described as being a rail based attraction however the word 'rollercoaster' is an inadequate way to describe it. It will also be unparalleled in Germany and most of Europe.

Construction work will begin in spring 2018 and take 1 and a half years.

What on earth are they going to come up with this time!?

:)

Have they even opened Sky Dragster yet?

BUMP!

Sky Dragster is not on Skyline Park's 2020 park map after an endless amount of technical problems. Sounds like it is being removed.

Also sounds like a financial desaster for Maurer....I have a hard time believing that the other installations of this type will run trouble-free...

It sounds like Mirabilandia's have encountered problems as well. And to think one of these is being put on to a cruise ship!

Sorry to bump the thread, but I have a very exciting update out of Skyline Park; the park's general manager today announced that the park is building a new roller coaster for 2024, and a pretty monumental one at that!

Parkerlebnis.de is reporting that Skyline Park is building a huge new Gerstlauer in 2024, with stats as follows:
  • The ride will stand at 70m (229.7ft) tall, making it Germany's 3rd tallest roller coaster; only 3m shorter than the current joint record holders Silver Star and Karnan.
  • The ride will have 1,200m (3,937ft) of track.
  • The ride will be costing 8-10 million euros.
Here's the full extent of what Parkerlebnis.de said (translated into English):
Parkerlebnis.de said:
Skyline Park in southern Germany is planning a major new roller coaster as a novelty in 2024. It is to be the highest and longest in the Bavarian amusement park.

Between eight and ten million euros are to be invested in the new roller coaster. This is announced by Skyline Park Managing Director Joachim Löwenthal to augsburger Allgemeine. The novelty 2024 is to be nothing less than the highest and longest roller coaster in the Bavarian amusement park to date: 70 meters high and 1.2 kilometers long. Thus, the new attraction will also scratch the height record in Germany; At 73 metres, the currently highest steel roller lifts in Germany are "Silver Star" in Europa-Park and "Der Schwur des Kärnan" in Hansa-Park. Nothing follows for a long time, until "Expedition GeForce" in the Holiday Park, which rises 53 meters into the air.

New roller coaster from German manufacturer

The new eye-catcher in Skyline Park would be its seventh roller coaster. For the first time, the amusement park is working together with the manufacturer Gerstlauer Amusement Rides from Münsterhausen, which is only about 40 kilometres away. Gerstlauer is responsible, among other things, for "The Oath of Karnan" in Hansa-Park and is therefore familiar with high facilities.

A few years ago, Skyline Park announced plans to build a large new roller coaster. In fact, the "Sky Dragster" propulsion system should have been the world's tallest roller coaster. However, these plans have not yet been implemented. However, skyline park is always a soft spot for high attractions: In 2020, the "Allgäuflieger", the world's highest chain carousel at the time, was opened.
(I ran this through Google Translate)

This is very exciting (and totally unexpected) news, no? I for one can't wait to see Gerstlauer's second hyper coaster take shape!

Seems like it wasn't removed, it's on the 2021 map and RCDB states "Starting in August 2020, the Sky Dragster is capable of multi-round operation."

Sounds like quite a significant ride for 2024, but feels like it's being announced extremely early.

Even more interestingly, Skyline Park has recently erected a second, entirely separate, Maurer Spike Coaster: https://coasterforce.com/forums/thr...rer-spike-test-bed-not-open-for-guests.44937/

However, this one seems to be a test prototype for Maurer as opposed to a ride that the park actually intends to operate. Skyline's relations with Maurer must be incredibly good for them to be letting Maurer set up test prototypes there!

Didn't Skyline Park announce quite a while back (possibly up to 10 years ago) that they were going to build a massive coaster that never actually happened!? Or have I made that up?

Either way, hopefully this happens as it sounds quite exciting!
