that's really good news. I do wonder if the park will have time to get it open for next year? Is it perhaps more likely to be the year after? The Sefton Council website shows they granted planning permission for the coaster today.
Guess its a case of waiting to see what the park announce now regarding a timescale.

The site is mostly old concrete from where there were go karts if I remember rightly, it also appears to have been somewhat cleared and prepped in advance. I could see them being able to push for Summer 2022 School Holidays if they desperately desired to. It isn’t like Merlin parks where things need to be rushed to be ready for MarchBuilding foundations on soft, wet sand...not a quick job!
Took them a couple of years to get an off the shelf looper going didn't it?

Whilst it's great they are getting a long over due new coaster......it's a real shame they are opting for this. I hope Zamperla have ironed out the kinks in the model, and more specifically the trains, otherwise we could have an absolute monstrosity on our hands.

Apparently the newer Thunderbolts are vastly improved compared to the Coney Island original, and Zamperla are actively trying to improve the smoothness of their coasters, so I’m optimistic that this could be really quite good!Whilst it's great they are getting a long over due new coaster......it's a real shame they are opting for this. Yes reviews of one of the newest ones at the park at OWA are very possitive in general with some remarking that it actually has some decent airtime.Apparently the newer Thunderbolts are vastly improved compared to the Coney Island original, and Zamperla are actively trying to improve the smoothness of their coasters, so I’m optimistic that this could be really quite good!
Here is a coaster studios review of it in which he's fairly positive:
Of course there are negative points that he discusses however Zamperla seem to be improving it with each one they build.
The go kart track isn't sufficient to use as foundations...this is going to be built on the beach...the Marine Road needs relevelling every few years. The site is mostly old concrete from where there were go karts if I remember rightly, it also appears to have been somewhat cleared and prepped in advance. Would love to see it next summer, I will be there claiming dippys beer and donuts, but I think the year after is more likely...if he has the money!

What is the problem with this model?

It rides like a shopping trolley on a cobbled street. I didn't think it was that bad but it's reputation is there. What is the problem with this model?
They built it on a beach in New York, feels like a solved problem.

Obviously they’ll do ground works, but the beach is the other side of the main road, not where the park is locatedThe go kart track isn't sufficient to use as foundations...this is going to be built on the beach...the Marine Road needs relevelling every few years.

'Apparently' it's the trains where the issues are rather than track profiling. Hopefully the newly designed trains will improve the smoothness of the ride.

I’ll still never forget watching one of the first POVs that surfaced from Coney Island and as it rolled out of the brakes you heard someone in the background say ‘yeah, it really shouldn’t be riding like that’.
Oh well, hopefully a decent scale investment for the park if it’s an improved as people claim. Hopefully they market it a little better than Icon was…

I mean they can't really do worse but I would love to see this ride on BBC/ITV North West, on billboards across Merseyside, Lancashire and Greater Manchester and in all the local papers.I’ll still never forget watching one of the first POVs that surfaced from Coney Island and as it rolled out of the brakes you heard someone in the background say ‘yeah, it really shouldn’t be riding like that’.

"Plans are also being progressed to build a new 35 metre-high and 260 metre-long roller coaster ride along the Marine Drive coast road, which is on course to open in a couple of years’ time."

Oy, dippy, get your lard arse down the seafront and report any progress.
I believe the adventure golf is being built now, not that exciting I guess unless @shakey wants a putting contest
