Spinball Whizzer: General Discussion

4 cars running today. Open and closed like a yo yo.

Does anyone know how many cars the ride was purchased with and the maximum amount it could run with?

Apologies if this is mentioned earlier on in thread.
It's most odd. I went on it in the week.
Many closures during the day, but was working great when it was working!

Have I missed the 3 adults to a car rule being abandonned?

I say that as groups of 4 adults were being loaded in one car the other day...

That's never been a rule for Spinball - what does change is that in wet weather conditions the cars are loaded with max. 3 persons. It doesn't seem to have the same loading restrictions and weight limit that Dragon's Fury at CWOA does for some reason.

Either that or put two small adults on one side and two fatsos on the other! Worked a treat at Fireworks (mentioning no names!)
Yeah I've found that the best is most of the weight back left as looking at the car when it leaves the station, 1 adult front left, two at rear with the heaviest behind the front (so back left)!

And like Wicker Man, the best rides with the most spins are near the end of the day!

The ride has been closed most of today, it finally reopened and now people are being evacuated from the ride after it stopped.

Wonder what’s wrong with it today. It was open most of yesterday when we were on park running 5 cars and ops were as good as they could be.

I've still not even attempted to ride it this year - it's either been closed or had an excessive queue whenever I've walked past so far this season. A shame as in recent years it's almost always been possible to get on without a significant wait mid-afternoon.

Also not ridden it yet as on my first visit this year it was up and down like a yo-yo and my second visit it was only ever a smaller queue when we we quite far away from it, but 40 minutes plus when we were near it. It’s not one of my favourites, but I do like a ride when it has a short queue.

This new PLC seems to be causing more issues than ever before. I’ve only been on it once this season. It’s usually closed/broken, got a massive queue or a bit of both.

I attempted to join the queue once when I realised it was only running 4 cars so didn’t bother.

The one time I did ride it when it was pretty much walk on (after being down a while) they kept having issues after almost every car with it not aligning when it arrives to the station, so the staff have to go out and manually realign the car, before restarting.

I'm yet to even consider doing Spinball yet this season, whereas it would usually be a staple of nearly any visit to the park.

Hope they can get the issues sorted, the new PLC was meant to improve reliability and not make it worse!

I try to do it every visit now because if it keeps going down like this I don't know how longer it will last

Aside from the pretty dire throughput, it’s still a really good ride and always more intense than I think whenever I ride it. It opened from lunch on my visit last Thursday, we rode it around 3pm and waited 20 minutes against an advertised 10 minute queue.

It’s a fun ride but I don’t think I’d queue more than 30 minutes for it

random question but has anyone ever ridden spinball alone? what's it like?
Much the same as when I rode it with other people 😄

No but seriously, it largely depends if you get batched with a 3 or a 2, you'll likely get a much better spin if the car isn't full. Having said that, I'm tiny so that definitely helps!

It can feel a bit awkward being paired with a stranger if they are fully loading cars as they're quite cosy, but chances are you'll be with a 2 and will get a side to yourself.

Tbh it's been so unreliable this year that if you're in the park and it's running with an accept wait time just get on it.
