Just realised, we've got it all wrong. These aren't for guests, they are kennels for the guests dogs.

Now it all makes sense.

Just to check how good value these Stargazing Pods are, I compared the price for four nights for one person at the end of July:

...with the cost of another new park accommodation being built this year - Krønasår at Europa-Park in Germany:

It's important to note that Krønasår does include a towel, and a full breakfast, and en-suite bathrooms, and air conditioning, and access to resort pools and spas....the exchange rate as of writing means in total it's £557.54.

But Stargazing Pods ARE cheaper! And if you include a towel, it's cheaper by a whole £4!.

Not a chance! It will take 10yrs for the sapling trees to become suitably mature. By this time given the way Merlin maintain their estate, the Pods will be in a terrible state of disrepair. Things will have moved on and the trend of "Glamping" will be long-gone. If you've seen the state of some of the "seasonal" Splash Landings rooms you'll know where I am coming from - poorly maintained and not over-clean.

That gives the Stargazing Sheds a longer operational live than Sub-Terra!

Maybe Merlin have invested in quality wood preservative for the sheds (hopefully urine-resistant for the rear walls) for those cool damp evenings when a walk to the facilities block is not an attractive option).

I have to say the entrance does look nice, with the planting etc. And I guess the toilet block looks alright and does match the enchanted village next to it.

However by far the worse looking part of this is the check in area! It’s out the way of the car park and the actual pods, and it just looks so tired.

Worse of all you’ll check in, then have this closed high ropes course hanging above you. It’s just such a bizarre place to send guests to check in. But then again this whole thing screams low budget.

Nice enough entrance, aesthetic of the shower and shit house is fine.

I get that there is a market for this sort of camping style accommodation, it’s just waaaaay too expensive in my opinion. £20 per person per night would be about the max I think they should charge.

If there’s any positive I can think of about these pods, it would be that they certainly make the Enchanted Village Lodges look much more appealing than they were before.
