Strange Roller Coasters

I don't think it's been mentioned, but Drachen Fire was definitely weird! It was basically Arrow trying to copy a B&M sit-down, however they couldn't replicate many of their elements like the loop around the lift hill, resulting in some very odd moments.

Here it is in action:

I always thought that looked like one of the best Arrows ever built. Though from what I gather, it was horrificly rough. :(

Didn't they end up removing one of the inversions at the end because it was so rough? Shame B&M didn't build it otherwise it still would have been running. Oddly enough I heard ages ago that Walter and Claude wouldn't build it at the time as they were working on other coasters (stand ups FFS) since they were a young company.

Yep, one of the corkscrews was removed as it proved to be too rough/snappy. And you are correct there, the only reason that it was not a B&M was because they did not have capacity to produce both it and Kumba at the same time. B&M did Kumba, and they designed a layout for Drachen Fire yet these plans were passed over to Arrow who completed the coaster. Hence much of Drachen Fire looked nothing like anu other Arrow coaster that has ever existed.

Here is the inversion that was removed:

Replaced with the straight track seen in this photo:

You can read more about Drachen Fire on BGWFans.

I'd love to have ridden it, along with Big Bad Wolf!

:)

It's even got the B&M "fan" lift hill supports, which look rather odd on an Arrow coaster, especially since their older rides use vertical columns for pretty much every support other than their loops.

Drachen Fire would almost certainly still be around if B&M had built it, and would no doubt have been (and still be) a world class coaster.

Absolutely no doubt somebody has come across this before but... worst coaster of all time?

Dragon, Park Lunasan, Turkey

I've seen a lot of half-arsed kids' coasters in my time but most of them at least pretend to have some kind of layout to them. This is literally an oval track with the smallest imaginable lift hill.

Dunno if this one's been posted before, but meet Ice Mountain Bobsled!

In no way affiliated with any other icy mountain related bobsled attractions which may or may not exist...

What is it with the perspex canopy/cockpit?

I can imagine it be like an oven in there during the summer season and I wouldn't want to be in there if a passenger you are sharing the car with let's one rip

It's not very good and very shaky when going over the launch wheels. I only went on it because it was next door to Ferrari World and we had a wristband for this included in the cost of the trip. Oh and also because I'm a credit whore
