Talbot Street Tuesday/Thursday (Picture Heavy)

I played this course on my first trip to Alton Towers. My primary memory is accidentally whacking my mum's shin with a golf club causing her considerable pain.
 
Things get graphic this week as we whip out our comic book collections and take a look at Nemesis' back story in one of the most unique pieces of marketing the park have ever produced.

In fact the comic was so good they whipped it out again when Sub-Terra debuted in 2012.

my brother bought a nemesis hat (the sun type worn by the England cricket team) it was bloody awful.

"Despite it’s ‘off the shelf’ style of design (indicating that the model was intended to be replicated at other parks) technically the Alton Mouse was the park’s first custom coaster since Vekoma never made another wild mouse, therefore making the coaster a unique addition to the park."

It can't be both off-the-shelf and custom, technically or otherwise. It was the only product Vekoma sold with that off-the-shelf design - but it wasn't at all custom. Far from it, it was actually manufactured as a demonstrator for the range.

Yeah, I guess it was AT's first 'unique' coaster, as opposed to its first 'custom' coaster.

Either way, it was the first proper coaster I ever rode!
 
Good point. If it was custom for anywhere, it would have been Prater, not Towers. Good article though.
 
It's been a while, but just like Enterprise you can't get rid of Talbot Street Tuesday that easily!

For this week's Talbot Street Tuesday we delve back into our Towers Atlas and bring you three more maps from the park's past.

This time we head into the 90s, where we look at the introduction of Old MacDonald's Farmyard in 1995 and Ug Land in 1999, as well as 1993, which saw The Land of Make Believe arrive in the park.

After last week's submission, we stay in X Sector for today's Talbot Street Tuesday, as we bring together a collection of concept artwork created for the area, during its construction in 1997.

As part of the development, the park not only created artwork for the rides and attractions, but also produced concepts for the area's shops and theming and even the new areas uniforms, ensuring that all aspects of the X Sector looked the part.

I think a lot of the photos are probably not displaying on these pages as they are just copied from Facebook, however all the photos can still be viewed on our Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/towersstreet > Click photos > Talbot Street Tuesday TST (There are two albums).
 
There is nothing more satisfying then seeing a JCB in action. When I was a kid no construction sight was complete without a fleet of Tonka's that could survive a nuclear blast. Now it isn't without a JCB. CATS are ok.

Diving through my head the other day. I remember a trip back in 2002/03 where they had the Crow video inside the monorail trains themselves. Did they use Videos later on. Been racking my brains for a while now and youtube is not being helpful.
 
Visited the other day and noticed that in the Rehydrator they appear to be leaving the side doors open, meaning you can see round each corner and it appears that most of the Coca-Cola / X-Sector theming is still intact in some shape or form, would be great in the future if they opened this up again as some time of small cafe similar to the Refresh at Ripsaw!
