There's certainly the opportunity for a steel supported I-Box ride that would be 'steel'.

For all intents and purposes the hybrid definition isn't particularly meaningful in terms of ride experience, only construction method.

To be fair an RMC would be perfect for AT but I can’t see one being built

If the above post is correct and CCL is actually where SW9 is that certainly rules out a coaster
 
This idea isn't a Secret Weapon, however it's a possibility and a do-able for the park with a little investment.

An Intamin Gyro Swing located somewhere on the park. There will need to be foundations dug, but nothing that will break the bank. The Gyro would begin underground where it is loaded and sweep back and forth over ground and under (because of the height issues). The top would be covered off as normal ground and people would be able to view the Gyro coming in and out of the ground as it swings with the supports anchored above ground.

They have a very good Gyro Swing at Drayton Mannor (less than 2hrs away), and it is one of their major attractions - i think it would be a bit low if they went down that route.

I would like one regardless of one being down the road. Would also like a topple tower and ripsaw 2 - who knows under new owners what we might see

The new generation mega gyros (loki at Liseberg) are a whole different kettle of fish to the older ones. Much taller, lap bar restraints and much more positive and negative g force. They are almost a totally different ride.

One of those would be great... But the hole would have to be deep as a mine to fit it in. :p:(

Doesn't Loke do 360 degree revolution?

Even the Zamperla Discovery is a better ride than Maelstrom.
 
Merlin haven’t installed a new adult flat ride since they bought the place. It’s too much of a coincidence not to be a strategic decision and I’m not sure there are any signs this is about to change.

The one glimmer of light is Rameses’ replacement, which might lead you to believe there’s a small chance that if Blade closes, it may be replaced. It won’t be replaced by an SW though.
 
A year of maintenance and beautification would be the best new thing for 2020 :) MATGA 2020.

The next SW should remove Rita, demolish the whole tired area around there and integrate 13 properly into a themed area with restaurant, shops, a water chute / dark ride, maybe one or two smaller rides, new station and queue for 13.
Whatever that area is meant to be, it doesn't really use its space well or feel like somewhere to go to currently.

Agree with all apart from demolishing thirteens station, which I actually like

Whilst I would love Rita to go (i find it a painful ride which gives nothing fun wise) I can’t see them removing it. It fills a gap in the lineup. And would they remove one launched coaster for another? Doubt it
 
How big is the area around duel? If that was removed is there enough room to build something round there?

The area is quite big if you're talking about including the show building. If you were to remove Duel and the Monorail (as people have been discussing) then that leaves a relatively large plot of land for a decent large investment. The Monorail maintenance shed is next door to Duel's show building and would leave an area just a little smaller than X Sector.

You would, however, have to take into account the proximety of the area to the park boundaries which could cause an issue (I'm unsure of planning restrictions on that side of the park aside from the usual tree line rule) and also if Towers would be willing to sacrifice another family ride for a thrill ride. They've just done in with The Flume for Wickerman so I highly doubt that they would do it again

Sorry to be pedantic, guess I am a pedantic sort of guy.

These giant gyro swings are not what I would call a new generation. Intamin have always offered a giant version of their gyro swing, such as Loke, as part of their product offering. From day one of the Gyro swing being part of their product range, which is probably a few decades. I believe the first giant one (same size as Loke) was built around the year 2000.

While they offer two sizes 32 seats and 40. Parks can specify a higher structure and or a higher swing than the standard height and swing height that comes as standard with the normal and giant models. But this has always been the case, it is a way to put your individuality stamp on your gyro I guess.....anyway, would love to see a fierce on at Alton. Would never happen due to height. Even the small ones raise really high in full swing.
 
Personally I would like sw9 to be something outside the norm. Weve seen the launch coasters weve seen the mack spinners what else have you got?
