Well, yes, in the grand scheme of things that's true, but park tickets are expensive and people save up their hard-earned wages to come to the park and enjoy the rides. If several are shut on one day then it's a reasonable argument that you're not getting the experience you've paid for. The more people that complain and ask for their money back, the more likely Merlin are to try to do something about it.

I understand it can be really frustrating for people, especially if it's your only trip of the year and is something you've been looking forward to.Well, yes, in the grand scheme of things that's true, but park tickets are expensive and people save up their hard-earned wages to come to the park and enjoy the rides.
Saying that though, I have been witness to many examples of people acting completey irrationally at guest services when little Jonny couldn't get on his favourite ride and i'm speaking more to these type of people rather than anyone expressing frustration on here.
I don't have sympathy with Merlin for many things, but I get that ride availability can't be guaranteed given the complexity of some of these coasters.

Th13teen's closure is related to rain, following an issue a few weeks ago. Sadly, reactive changes are the order of the day here. I believe it will be resolved for 2022.
Smiler, no idea. Maybe they are waiting on a part. We all know what delivery is like these days, especially from abroad...!

This wet weather tyres thing feels like some enthusiast folklore. That's the sort of thing you find out after 11 days of operation, not 11 years.
We know the train slipped back and collided, so that aspect must be true.
Wet weather tyres fixing it is surely a bit of a guess though, and one which I can't see cutting it. I imagine some sort of anti rollback will be added.
Rick has a very good explanation on the Thirteen thread about the lift hill "grip" issue. https://towersstreet.com/talk/threads/thirteen-general-discussion.5757/page-9#post-340832
I was gutted when i visited last week for the final time this year. It was a solo trip and i picked a quiet day with the sole purpose of marathoning the Smiler.
However, i understand that it can't operate without getting a specialist part make, and i understand the problems with supply chains, and importing at the moment, and staff issues too, it's one of those things.
It did give me a chance to revisit some old favourites though, like Hex and The Blade. In the end i enjoyed my day greatly.
It's just one of those things. Yes, the ride can complete a cycle, but can it repeatedly do it with passengers?
Also, how rocky legal ground would you be on if there's an error message on the console and you ignore it? To knowingly operate a ride with a fault is not wise.

cough 2015...if there's an error message on the console and you ignore it?
Seen from angry people on twitter that they are still selling fast tracks for Smiler each day even though they know it’s not going to open. And then refusing refunds unless the person queue’s 2 hours at the box office on the day! I always defend towers but that it pretty shameful behaviour

On a more positive note, apparently the station has had a repaint and there is new audio in the shop. Just makes me want to ride it even more.

You're not really missing much with the station though - it's very bland. A re-paint will just make the blandness stick out even moreOn a more positive note, apparently the station has had a repaint and there is new audio in the shop. Just makes me want to ride it even more.![]()

I think it was one shots. However I’ve just looked on the app and you can’t buy a one shot for The Smiler until next Monday - does this now mean AT know it won’t be opening until Monday at the earliest? Is that one-shot Fasttracks or the package ones?

Also just to add in, it's apparently a brake sensor which is the part being awaited. When it's testing they must be manually overriding it at the end.

A station repaint is pretty pointless if no one can actually ride the damn thing!

It could be one of a pair of sensors (that give redundancy) that has failed. This means they could run the ride without passengers. Also just to add in, it's apparently a brake sensor which is the part being awaited. When it's testing they must be manually overriding it at the end.

They are probably making the most of it's extended closure to do small improvements/changes.A station repaint is pretty pointless if no one can actually ride the damn thing!

All speculation aside, that would make sense. The one ride it completed Monday last week resulted in the train stuck on the brakes for 45 minutes.

Ugh, I just miss the drop straight out of the station. It gets your adrenaline pumping immediately. Heart broken I didn’t get to ride it in the dark. Hope its up soon for everyone else during Scarefest. Would be a pretty sad Scarefest if one of the biggest and most popular rides has been down the majority of the time, especially with the issues going on with Thirteen as well not helping.
