There's nothing massively wrong with that - apart from Apocalypse! The Towers are absolutely the reason that the park came to be, but they're probably somewhere near the bottom of the list in terms of why people visit in 2015, along with the gardens.

Near the bottom. I heard someone call it the castle!

Really, they should promote it more. Make it more popular. Also maybe have some days of the year where you can only go into the towers and gardens. I know some people who would like to go for the history, but are put of buy the £50 price.

The time between feb hal term opening and the start off the new season would be a good time for a towers and garden only opening.

Good idea, but I'm pretty sure lots of gardening work goes on during this period, so that could be an issue.

I remember a guest once asking "What's that big house?". Amazing.

As I said previously, I think the problem with having additional people in there does potentially cause logistical issues, the relative lack of people that visit now means it's pretty much self policing and some of the features of the building that are less than ideal, are not a problem due to the low numbers.

They experimented with garden days in the closed season a good few years ago, but I think take up was relatively poor and these events now only take place via horticultural clubs. It'd be tricky to do that kind of event in the open season and of course in the closed season you end up running the risk of people leaving the gardens and going for a wander - there are so many entrances to police!

I know some people really wish otherwise and I totally get why, but I think the function of the gardens and the towers will remain relatively unchanged going forward, irrespective of who owns/manages the park, I don't think it's a decision that only Merlin would make.

There is a relatively big push from the council to get Towers to make greater use of the Towers and Gardens, whilst still being respectful of their sensitive nature. It will be interesting to see what/if Towers do going forward. I personally can't see any major changes in terms of promoting their use any time soon.

Id like to see more sign boards around, like they have in the chapel showing what the rooms use to be like in the past.
Get people a bit more interested in what they are walking through.

I can't see Merlin paying for that, sadly. Have you seen the price of printer ink? :p

Why did I read that in Russell Howard's voice? :p

But yeah, I agree, the Towers are the last thing on Merlin's mind. Can't make them money, can it!

Once again, saying the Towers are the last thing on Merlin's mind is just not true. They are a Grade II* listed building set in and around Grade I listed grounds and gardens.

It is unlikely we will see any substatial work take place in the near future but you just have to look at the brilliant work they have done to the detailed painting around the archeway into the Towers from the conservatory. In fact just compare the conservatory now to five years ago, it's a dramatic change.

I would love to see more and I think information signs in various rooms is an idea that they should definitely look at.

To be fair they have no choice in the matter, that's forced on them for owning Alton Towers. :p They can't exactly leave it all to rot as they have a duty of care for the Towers, gardens and grounds.

I agree though that there has been some fantastic work done to the Towers of recent years.

Agree with the idea above of info signs being placed in different rooms of the Towers, maybe even around the gardens if they could. Would be easy and cheap to do, just get on the phone to Leek Signs! Most of the historical information they should have to hand or can find online so it would be easy to piece together too.

All we can do is keep bombarding Towers with email request for the signs to happen, maybe they will eventually listen.
We may get a surprise at the start of nxt season when the Towers open again.
Oh they have all the hisorical inforamtion, if they every decide to get the heritage website back up for us all to see.:(
