Intriguing, as the entry conditions for Warwick Castle says:

Unless it is expressly prohibited, you are permitted to take photographs and recordings within the Attraction provided that these are solely for private use and are not sold or used for any commercial or public purpose.

So did they break Warwick Castle entry terms by working, or COVID guidelines by having a nice day out?
 
Park operators don't seem to enforce the "no commercial footage" when it comes to vloggers. It seems they're prepared to turn a blind eye to it as it's free advertising for the park. Maybe they enforce that rule only if they don't like the footage, the context or what's being said.

As for covid restrictions, they don't enforce tier restrictions for anybody else so they are unlikely to enforce it for somebody providing free advertising. It is a bit poor though, in my opinion.
 
Merlin clearly have little desire to enforce their own policy here, or simply don't consider this as commercial. Either is entirely at their discretion.

For clarity, my point was that if you cite the 'legal right to work' as a reason to travel into and out of a tier 3 area, I would suggest it might be hard to back that up when the place you are going to suggests you have no right to work there. Unless they were invited, at which point this whole argument is mute and reverts entirely to a moral issue.
 
I think going to Warwick and claiming it as essential work is wrong unless Warwick have invited them.

Yes the videos might be the source of income but why would anyone want to travel to a tier 3 area when the place has said locals only. To me that’s morally wrong, just because you can doesn’t mean you should.

Any professional production companies would contact parks beforehand to get permission and sort out the details, and the park would put signs up warning about filming taking place. It's the same with any TV documentary.

Independent "vloggers" on the other hand only seem to ask for permission to film on the rides, not the general park. :mad:

@BeccaH it might be a thing that Warwick have possibly given him special permission i dunno but it divides my opinion that he should just stick to AT!

Again and again, and not just you, you just happen you be the most recent...

There is nothing in the restrictions regarding any aspect of work being essential as to whether or not a person should travel to work. If you can not work from home you can travel to work. That this is his work i don't think is in any doubt. That you can't film and review an event without being there can't be in doubt either.

It's no grey area, it's no loophole. The law is like this by design to stop everyone being unemployed and the economy crumbling further. You may or may not like it, but them's the rules and basing your argument against something on your own lack of understanding when two minutes reading could set you straight is a bit silly.
 
I'm just in the process of setting up my new channel, ThemePark WorkWorldWide. That way, nobody can make any misconceptions as to what my content is about.
 
This is all getting a little off topic again...

I'm more than happy to have a topic discussing the content TPWW put out, indeed we as a site have been willing to let things go beyond that to an extent due to events earlier this year.

However, in no way is it appropriate to start discussing and speculating on an individual's potential income. It's certainly not acceptable to speculate about their tax status either, not least when again I should point out that they are not an active contributor to this forum to respond and there is no evidence to support such accusations.

Likewise on the travel front during the pandemic, Shawn had clearly made a decision to travel and produce content which as some have said is permitted. Whether you agree with that or not is your own personal opinion, and also an opinion which won't really change with further posts going round in circles about it in here. So if we could stick to constructive discussion about the content of the videos from now on, instead of some sort of bitchfest against TPWW it'd be appreciated :).

It does look very impressive but I don't believe there's much skill to the actual programming of the tree. A whole load of presets I'd imagine (I know nothing about these lights so could be wrong but he did a demo a while back showing the default options). Shawn did used to (or maybe still does) run a DJ'ing business for birthday parties and such, so he's not completely new to the world of son et lumière. :)
