Thirteen: General Discussion

For sure. Interestingly, Rapterra is 1.2m yet it has no train/restraint changes from its other counterparts.
mandrill is 1.2m as well,
they are different restraints (they are hydraulic, not ratchet) but I guess it could also be the forces of the ride, mandrill is really low force (compared to soemthing like swarm) probably dropping its restraint class rating, I am not sure how much it would affect it as the restraints don't seem to have changed but also could be they are concered with young people riding it due to the forces.

3) Instead of designing Thirteen to have a low height requirement, would it theoretically have been possible to reduce Nemesis' height requirement instead? I realise that this might sound unsafe / absurd, but I seem to recall that Nemesis and Shockwave both launched with a 1.2m height requirement in 1994, but both were later increased to 1.4m, and so presumably there is some flexibility in these requirements?
Just to (quickly) add to my previous point: Drayton Manor were able to reduce the height requirement of Shockwave from 1.4m to 1.2m by changing the trains from stand-up to sit-down, and so I wasn't sure whether Alton Towers could have done something similar with Nemesis et cetera, without having to build an entirely new coaster (Thirteen) for families.

That’s what I meant. Rapterra is the same trains and restraints as Mandrill yet has a much more intense ride layout.
