They may not be to some people, but I see them censored quite often in YouTube comment sections and in other places. I do not believe that these two should be swear words though, especially Hitler.

I think the thing with Hitler is that the word may be censored on some comment platforms not because it’s a swear word as such but to prevent people from using it in an inflammatory way or to make offensive comments.

As an interesting aside you’ll sometimes see some internet users using the word “G-d” instead of saying “God”. It seems be a Jewish American thing which I think is perhaps done as writing the actual word is considered to be somewhat disrespectful as I understand it

That's not because they are swear words, but because people are battling the pathetic automated moderation where certain topics have been marked as inappropriate regardless of the validity of any point being made. You'll also notice it for most illegal drug names. It is a ******* stupid system that stifles legitimate conversation and debate.

Anyway this thread reminds me when our company added filters to our email. Everything got rejected because our email signatures contained the company address, including the county of "West Sussex". I've since found out this is called the Scunthorpe Problem.
