OK, long awaited trip to Hyperia, long term rehab health goal of the last couple of years...and despite a few nasty travel spots, dead and thirsty volvo, and a poorly return trip for me, bloody wonderful!
Never give up on your hobbies.
Dodgy motorways and broken cars aside, the long journey from the north was good, tea at the (Red Lion) end of Monks Walk was excellent, and the walk of said path built up excitement.
Discussion was taken on collective nouns for geese at some point...why have five?
The walk and surroundings were excellent, waterskiers on one side, thoosie junk rotting away on the other.
Worth the effort.
It was strange watching Liverpool beat Millwall sixteen fifteen on penalties in the pub, but I had drunk my usual weekly ration in a day by then.(Queens Head, walk from M3 Heston services, decent, with all those nice planes passing over).
The sarsaparilla soda cocktail preloads may not have helped...
Shakey will never share a room with two chunky thoosies ever again.
They were warned.
I apologised.
Dippy was worse.
Picked up random mystery young thoosie with excellent credentials at the station, all smiles and excitement, no entry problems, then the precious first hour.

The wonders of a front seat swarm, walk on raft thingy, and inferno short queue sated the thoosie desires.

Then we are marched to Hyperia, to wait an hour for opening in a shortish queue, then another in the multi queuelines.
But excellent ride, too short and all that, but bloody heaven after all this time for a nice playing out day with mates.
Barged out the mystery young un to fluke a front seat with dippy, and no handed thoosie swearing from a strange grey haired old man, who, yet again, actually got to drive!
Stunning, if brief.
Who cares about crap landscaping, feel that hangtime.
Food time, some had kfc, but, scared of touchscreen monsters blocking my path, I had already sniffed the stink of rotten doner frying in the distance.
Amity kebabs was my first ever doner/theme park combination, a few years ago, and was a magnificent cross hobby experience greater than any other at that time...an absolute joy of food, location and company (ex care client of many years standing, many happy hours in the Big One queue together around opening), that has rarely been surpassed.
This time, not really up to standard.
Expensive but large, the meat was of a reasonable fatty, greasy quality, mystery misery meat at its finest, but it sadly only had a single sliver of shredded bone.
Good simple salad and sauce options, good quality flatbread and presentation, but padded out with chips inside the wrap, which though of quite good standard and fresh, should never, ever, be present inside the wrap.
I should have requested no chips.
Lovely eating by the big splash, which was to be the usual after lunch waterslide, on a perfect hot late summer sunny afternoon.
Sadly, poorly came on, and I did a last minute "at the gate" cop out, supported by excellent staff, and a quick walk to my ultimate afternoon nap garden shade...
The old "Diana Memorial" sunken garden by the stealth hill.
Stealth spited us for the day in planned closure, but i squeezed the edge drinks barrier to the last remaining bit of old thorpe glory.
ERT to myself, walk on, all three benches, about ten minutes on each, with one reride...perfect shade, well tidied small circular garden, acers , lawns and pond, with fences for old gits ankles, and the peace, together with amity radio and distant screams, blissed me out for around an hour of quiet contentment, water spraying from the sprinklers on my bare, swollen old ankles.
Then a mystery gardener turned up with a smile, we chatted a wonderful chat for ten minutes about work stuff, and the excellent planting and management of the gardens around inferno and colossus.
Then I woke up with walk on tidal wave and detonater, all wet and solo thoosie.
Proper operations, excellent staff, more thoosie heaven.
Met up again...
Then it was small beer, the farce of oktoberish, and the inner amusement of sitting in a cablecar with mates, and beer...and Britney oompah.
Walking dead was good for a first timer on the rehash, and the second go on the short queue raft thingy...which was a real highlight of the day.
Old gititis kicked in over the day, other stuff was had by the mystery young un while we sat and watched like good goons, and a blissed out day was highlighted by free pass parking, and no wait.
More motorway hell was followed by wave upon wave of me being poorly, over several hours.
Apologies have been made, Velvet spoons full provision will be provided free of charge to the sufferers in the way of restitution and reparation.
Probably the worst long distance travel in three decades.

Excellent trip overall, should have been two night stopover for oldies really, but a fantastic trip with mates indulging in company, food drink and hobbies.
Three "real" trips to Thorpe, all Sunreader freebies, all absolutely great trips.
Never give up on your hobbies.

Excellent report and it pretty much sums it up.

Great day on the park, great weather and great company.

My first visit to Thorpe and I really enjoyed it. Quite a compact park with a good variety of coasters. Definitely needs a woody and a few gentle attractions to do in between the coasters.

So my thoughts on Hyperia, a very good modern coaster which is too short and lacks a few traditional camel back hills. The removal of the splash down is also disappointing. The first drop is definitely the highlight for me. Is it better than the Big One ? of course not !! (disclaimer - this is just my opinion so don't shoot me).

I actually thought Saw and Walking Dead were more fun to ride. And the ride of the day had to be Storm Surge as that provided the most laughs.

Four isn't enough and six is too many. I thought that would be obvious.

Thank you for the excellent trip report, I'm extremely pleased to hear that you had quite the adventure and good day out. Welcome back! Sorry I couldn't make it this time.

Great report @rob666; I’m glad you enjoyed Hyperia!

I always find those September midweek days at Thorpe such great fun, and your report has reminded me of that… it’s a crying shame that I’ve been unable to make it to Thorpe in September this year! I did at least get a taste of that midweek fun back in June, though, so I can’t really complain too much…

It was a choice of many days for free on the ticket application.
September means warmer weather generally, but October, early, means lots of walk on rides usually, but the new coaster will probably make it busier this year with thoosie steam still venting.

Nice, thanks for sharing it. I appreciate you for taking the time to write it in brief.
