Thorpe Park: General Discussion
It definitely wasn't that long, actually looked shorter than it was earlier in the day when it was advertised 120-140 mins. I imagine they were just inflating the posted time to discourage people from joining the queue.10 minutes before park close, don't know if the queue was closed but advertised wait was 200 minutes!! Are they going to stay open till around Midnight every night for Halloween?

Queue closed at 9 again tonight, so seems they're pretty consistent at closing the queue at park close on fright nights dates which is good.
Hugely overstating the queue though, probably to put people off getting in the queue. Advertising and multiple announcements that the queue was 200 mins (over 3 hours) when it wasn't over 90 mins.
Fingers crossed they can get the 2nd train back asap! They're going to need it for half term week...

Yep I was on the last train of the night again and last in the queue and got to the airgates at 22:15 so largely overestimated and they repeatedly said over the areas speakers the queue was 3 hours 20 minutes making as many people leave as they could before closing the queue.
I prefer this than just closing the queue whenever they fancy with no communication.

Actively lying to your customers doesn’t seem a particularly admirable trait. They know it’s going to be very busy the rest of this month and that’s the plan?
If those numbers are accurate they’ve added almost 2 hours to the queue estimate at time of closing.
Prominently advertise an earlier queue closure, stop selling FT and consider Virtual queuing.

Yea I'm not saying it's good to purposely overestimate the wait time I'd have it down to the staff wanting to go home at some point that night after smashing the operations as best they could all day.
But yes last train of the night was at around 22:17 so 3 hours was a big overestimation but as I said I'm just glad they let people join the queue up until 21:00 on the dot.
Shout-out to all the staff trying their best in a bad situation that's fully out of their control, I can also say at least talking to some staff the train was onsite and back together and it was the same train that valleyed before.

Ermm...
Honestly can't say I'm too surprised what with the state of the fencing last week- already had holes cut out of areas and was less sturdy than cheap chicken wire.
The person who posted this does say that they closed Hyperia and fixed it at around 8pm in the replies to another person.

Goes to show staff don’t walk the queue line and check for issues.

Your car can get an full service and MOT that's valid for a year... Then break down on the way home. Its a safe bet that happened after the morning inspections. Possibly caused by a guest?Goes to show staff don’t walk the queue line and check for issues.
Completely agree about the MOT situation but the fence not likely. It was either installed with not all the the fixings to the post or a very determined guest undid the fixings and no one who saw reported it.Your car can get an full service and MOT that's valid for a year... I’m going with not installed correctly.

Oh yeah, that's a given. Badly installed to begin with, and people leaning on it every day for a few months finally worked it loose.
When it comes to morning inspections, I doubt the staff are doing any more than a quick glance at the fence as they walk past. I wouldn't expect them to push on every single fence panel every morning, any more than I would expect them to check every single bolt every morning.

According to this video (youtube.com/watch?v=CzA3mdToB6c) at the 1:02 mark, an engineer checks all 7400 bolts on the Nemesis ride each morningany more than I would expect them to check every single bolt every morning.
