Most of my mates have finished their A-levels by now yeah, think GCSEs are on their final week too. Only STEM subjects are really left now A-levels wise (cries in Maths, Physics and Chemistry A-level) so most people will probably be in the 'we done our exams lets go forpe park bruv' stageIt will be getting busier though, lots of students have finished...

Many university students will also have finished for the year as well.
Unless you’re a postgrad doing your dissertation over the summer (the club that I fall into this year!) or resitting any modules, I’d think that most uni students are now free for the summer!

For any of you 80s and 90s Thorpe Fans out there, not too long ago someone released an audio recording of Phantom Fantasia's Queue/Walkthrough segment! I'll leave the link for it below.
Enjoy!

Any idea why Thorpe is closed on Sunday the 14th September? Was hoping to call in on the back end of a Europa Park trip and it's closed? On a Sunday.. in September

Most likely it's a private buyoutAny idea why Thorpe is closed on Sunday the 14th September? Was hoping to call in on the back end of a Europa Park trip and it's closed? On a Sunday.. in September![]()
There's a couple across the Merlin parks this year during the main season
It's not great really as it is a weekend when it could allow passholders and other guests to come instead. Especially as the Saturday before could be busier as a result.

Towers is closed on Sunday 7th, I suspect there are some private hire days going on.
Edit: what @owenstreet7 said.

Passholders generally don't make them extra money. If the passholders come on the Saturday instead it makes very little difference to the parks income. It's not great really as it is a weekend when it could allow passholders and other guests to come instead. Also September is one of the quietest months, especially with no Oktoberfest this year.

Has anyone seen any of the queueline TVs on this year?
Very strange decision to invest time and money getting them working again last year for them to be switched off a month later?
I have a lot to praise about Thorpe in recent years, but their upkeep of any kind of effects has always been shocking. Not a single effect working on Swarm Island. The water by the fire engine is currently green and they haven't even bothered to fill up the area by the helicopter with water this year.
No Inferno mist effects or Stealth smoke effects on Sunday too. How hard is it to keep a smoke machine going
Great day on Sunday though. Was great to finally get back on Stealth.

When on top of that it’s outside, extremely.
Smoke machines are buggers.
Not an excuse though, if you invest in it with a knowledge of where (outside) and how (intensively) you’re gonna use it, you expect it to need a fair whack of upkeep, and plan/budget accordingly.
Wows, not heard that quote since Mr Gibson ran the effects at the school disco, many decades ago....Smoke machines are buggers...
Probably the most common effect loss at parks...missing smoke/vapour...
Starting with Icon.

Went today for the first time this season, why was SAW the smoothest ride of the day
I sat back right middle and there was no jerk at the bottom of the drop, or any head banging toward the end, literally felt like how it did back in 2009-2012

I mean it looks better than a broken screen, but not a fan of this, particularly the bottom right/Swarm part. Looks cheap and clearly made by AI.

How are you able to determine that it’s AI when the image is in 360p? I can’t tell whether it’s AI at that resolution, but nothing screams AI from what I can currently see…
