Thorpe Park: General Discussion

The queue jumpers may have jumped into the ride area (it has happened before, even with similar height fencing, look at an incident with batman the ride, where they jumped the fence and one lost his head) if they were in the ride area, they would probably have had to E-stop the ride which may require evacs

Heard an announcement this asking people to "walk the queue line" rather than jumping over. But how do I whatsapp TP for the queue jumpers?? Will definitely do that!

Re: my SAW sunglasses (or lack of) my £150 lesson is learned. Disappointed that all TP could suggest is to report it to Police. I'm sure they'll send SOCO out and some glasses sniffer dogs.

It's on the app under:

- theme park information
- report something
- start report

I've said it before, and I'll say it just once more. In my experience that number does nothing. No response, no one turns up, absolutely nothing happens.

Also, queue jumping is not dealt with in my experience either. On Sunday two lads were jumping over fences jump queues, reported it to 3 actual real life humans (employees, not just randoms!) and yet they were still allowed to ride. They did it on hyperia - nothing, they did it on inferno, also nothing. Plenty of opportunity for them to be told to bugger off to the back but it wasn't taken. I no longer bother saying anything myself after being physically threatened at the exit to Saw and the report helpline not responding.

Start kicking the little buggers out of the park and they'll stop. Ban them for the rest of the year for a third offence. Or stop pretending that you're serious about it.

My single experience of Hyperia included me fronting up a large group of queuejumpers.
The (useless large group of) staff heard and witnessed the confrontation and did nothing to assist...they carried on chatting as if nothing had happened.
The vast majority of the naughty group cleared off to the back of the queue.
The only support I got was from other people waiting.

I admire the balls of some of you based on some of these anecdotes… I don’t think I’ve ever stood up to a queue jumper!

All I’ve ever done is apologised for standing in their way and meekly stepped aside to let them by…

The amount of single riders attempting to jump the fence when the queue to the station cleared, just wasn’t funny ….. although each time it enabled an extra single rider seat ….

Yeah, seen this a lot i'm really surprised they didn't go for a higher fence on the stairs. Was to be expected really. I don't mind though as means I get on quicker 🤣

Also seen people crawl under the fence from the SAW SRQ into the main queue but think they've sorted that now by making the fence lower.

I've personally never used the report function on the app but I've seen security come and walk the queue to eject queue jumpers plenty of times at Hyperia which is good to see.

Not worth getting stabbed by one of the Staines "massive". Very sad that it's even a thing, but agree needs nipping in the bud. "Broken windows" again...
I would guess merlin probably tells their ride opps not to do much about them especially large groups because the risk to the staff, sometimes I feel it is forgotten that merlin has a responsibility to the health of their guests and staff similar to how a stores will tell staff not to really stop someone from shop lifting because the risk to staff is quite high.

I have seen thing done by opps though, when we were on oblivion they noticed someone jump from fast track into the main queue (before they had the single rider thing when fast track was scanned in the station) and they kicked the person out (it was only one person though)

I dealt with the Burnley massive for a couple of decades full time, so the Staines children...well, to be completely honest...I couldn't understand a single word that was spoken to me...apart from "innit".

I do have a reputation for queuejumpers, last one was the Valhalla makeover.

I must say that is the only time I have ever had grief at Thorpe.

Seen it twice with the jumping from the single rider into the main queue on Hyperia first time last year told the staff they did nothing then this year in april 2 people jumped over and they got kicked off the ride

I’ve seen a strong response from the operator on Spinball for jumping over the fences and not walking round the queue line before but I think that’s the only time! He made them get out of the queue (via the tannoy).

Two quick things that I've noticed from Theme Park Insanity's Thorpe Park vlog from a few weeks ago:-

1) Maybe it's just me, but when I first saw the "Forging" graphic in the Hyperia queue line at the 3:48 mark, I legitimately thought at first that Thorpe Park had resurrected their old "Say No To BO" graphic from 2009 (see photographs attached).

2) I noticed at the 6:07 mark that there are now clear signs above the Hyperia staircase, indicating which side of the stairs corresponds to which queue (see photograph attached); I had mentioned in a post from last year that I saw people being confused by which side of the staircase to climb - especially as the single-rider queue had switched sides at some point during the year, with no signage to direct people.

I had a great experience last year with the the Thorpe Park police or TPPD as I call them.

Fella comes barging down swarm queue, I challenge say you can’t do that, barges past me and continues through the majority of the queue.
I get on WhatsApp, the people on WhatsApp tell me they’ve spotted him on CCTV and within about 5 mins two security officers kicked him out the queue! Result!

I've also seen good things when it comes to dealing with queue jumpers at Thorpe. We had some in the Stealth queue a couple of years ago, I cannot remember the exact circumstances but we notified staff and before you knew it security were there to remove them from the station!
