Thorpe Park: General Discussion

The Beast at fantasy island was the best one out of the two and always run on a proper setting.

Samurai was never the same once it moved to Thorpe.
The ones at Barry Island Pleasure Park is also really excellent for its cycle believe that one was the former Whirlwind at Lightwater Valley.

Really wonder if Samurai needs a complete overhaul to get back up to full speed

I've found that a well run Topscan, while intense, can actually be less nauseating than a tame one. If it runs faster, there's more G force to pin you in to your seat, and fool your inner ear in to thinking you are the right way up. And the flips are faster, so you spend less time the wrong way up.
But a tamer one just slowly rotates you over and over at un-natural angles, putting all your weight on the restraint, or worse, the side of the seat.

To celebrate the end of locktober, you could be one of the lucky few to unlock The Jack Silkstone at Slkstn Unlocked.

A private evening, with The Jack Silkstone, in dark and confined spaces on an island like no other. To boot, he's even offering you a ride, or two, on The Jack Silkcut: The Ride (aka Hyperia) on a two train service! If that wasn't enough, you too can have an evening out raving with awkward Thoosies, as they vlog themselves around the dancefloor to the beats of DJ "Arch Nemesis".

I'm being deadly serious, he's seemingly managed to privately book Thorpe Park. You can get your tickets here:

No confirmation as to whether he will accept and honour MAP and TPAP though.

The Jack Silkstone event has been running for the last few years and was just the scare attractions, it's only been since Hyperia opened that the coaster itself been part of the line up.

Annual Passes don't seem to be accepted for the event.

It seems to be very popular amongst the enthusiasts (Jack Silkstone fans) though

Glad to see that they've now changed the soundtrack on a lot of the rides for Fright Nights, after not doing it for a number of years. They're in the same/similar voice as the advert for this year.

Unfortunately no change on Stealth or Samurai though, and you can hardly hear it in Colossus' station as its very quiet.

The park is looking amazing in the dark this year. Lots of lighting changes and additional smoke machines making the park look the best it ever has done at night. A lot of Swarms effects have been restored and Infernos mist is pumping.

This smoke machine on Colossus is brilliant.

Hyperia is lit up in red from 7pm, and the lights go off as each train goes down the first drop.

Really not a fan of the music that starts blasting out at 9:20 park wide though, including in the Hyperia queue 🤣

Also really not a fan of the new scare zone and just seems like that was added for the sake of adding a new scare attraction. Would love to see another Crows/Towers style scare zone. Why not use the old Blair Witch route from Trailers to the Nemesis Inferno exit like before?

What’s the attendance like? £59 if it’s near walk on Hyperia and mazes isn’t awful.

Had a good day yesterday with some people who haven't visited for a while. They had the maze package and I didn't fancy doing them all because they've been so inconsistent the last few years. But I reluctantly parted with £7 to join them for a run through Survival Games.

What a complete waste of time and money! It was long enough, but nothing happened. Lots of wandering around in the dark with some lazy scare acting every now and then.

They said Deadbeat was equally rubbish but they had a great run through on Trailers. I also decided to join them for Stitches which was very good in fairness, a solid 7/10 but carried a lot by the theming rather than actors.

I remember when these mazes were free with admission and had double the amount of actors throughout. I think if Merlin are charging a premium for these things they need to ensure every run through is at least above average. I get consistency can be difficult with scare mazes but I felt completely ripped off with Survival Games and I'd imagine every other paying guest did as well.

On a positive note, the £8.80 Yorkshire Pudding Wrap with chips, veg and a pot of gravy remains the best value theme park meal in the Northern Hemisphere 😍

*Picture of said wrap may be inserted here when I work out how to do so*
