When I went earlier this season every ride I did was a blind launch. So I guess it’s just what the op does when they are bored. Previously I never saw it very often at all.
 
Surely it's not really a "blind launch" if the brake fins lower and you feel it rock back with the catch car attaching?

Only those on the front row see the fins lower, plus anyone who's not ridden before and doesn't know much about it wouldn't necessarily know what the rocking was for. A "blind launch" is specifically a launch without the lights or spiel though, as those are the main ways of preparing riders for the launch. 🙂
