I do think Towers should chop all the trees down on Towers Street, it looked so much better then
The Alton Magic..
....Dawn...what a ride op
edit: sorry for the double post
Many areas of the park need cutting back, notably Towers Street. Oversized trees and shrubbery makes everything seem so scruffy.
I have mixed feelings on this. I don't like it without trees however I think @CoasterCrazyChris is right if the trees where trimmed opening up the street area, it would look a lot better.
I've also noticed the shrubbery in KC being overgrown and the waterfall not working as well as the music not on. AT is still a great park but it is over run with games and vendors on every corner which take away the magic.
Looking back at that video from the 80s certainly does stir up emotion. Everything looks so clean and fresh. Nowadays we have a patchwork quilt of repaired walkways instead of investing in some brand new block paving which would make the park look so much better.
There's loads I could mention but what really stood out for me when we visited was the awful state of the monorail. I thought the idea of the vinyls on the trains was good but now they look tired and are peeling. The mesh on the windows restricts great views of the park. It was lovely to see it looking do new in that video with the announcer guiding you through the attractions. Now the ride is more about selling you more stuff; the business side of things has to be balanced but at AT it at times seems relentless.
I like the trees, gives it a old market feel. The 80's version looks like it is new. I like things to look dated. Yes the tress look scruffy, but I think they add something to the feel of the park.
i have been recently and in my eyes theirs nothing really that big to say that it's 'tired and rundown ' but i got to admit that cloud cuckoo land is in need of a complete update (in my opinion) i never really go to that part of the park i dont see any thing interesting theirs a lot of hype over the ice age 4D and i only once went on the Charley and the chocolate ride and i was really bored all the way i would have probably like it more when it was toy land tours with the giant sonic the hedgehog animatronic otherwise i don't visit cloud cuckoo land
The giant sonic is outside spinball now. I'd Say DF Is more in need of a update/demolition.
I'm going to assume you didn't step foot anywhere near Dark Forest on your visit?
DF home to bob the builder land scaffold theme, It was delivered to the wrong place so they decided to use it anyway.
i did go to the dark forest on my visit
Or ug forest as I like to call it
Then you'd have noticed how abysmal the presentation is, the decay, the rot and the desperate attempt that UG Land is undertaking to reappear on the F&B units and game stalls.
That is tired and run down.
true but the game stalls are very annoying and to be honest the foods not that good and the lockers where not working at least when i went
this made my day
The best bit about dark Forrest is the irony behind the name. With the recent tree felling, there is little Forrest to speak of. As a result, lots of light can get into the area eliminating all darkness.
Imo FV is more of a 'dark forest' than the actual dark forest they need to stop taking the trees down and start planting them and maybe theme the scaffolding as a tree taking over the track that 'you must escape' from and add a flat
Cebebbies land is more of a dark forest than dark Forrest. At least it has trees (albeit, plastic ones)
They should call it the cut down forest.
The place could definitely do with tidying up. It's more than just the rides showing a bit of age, it's things like the state of the queue lines and the moss growing between the flagstones etc.
The saddest thing for me is seeing the state of the gardens nowadays and especially the Pagoda compared with it's glory days - the thing used to be beautiful and even if the fountain isn't operational anymore, seeing how filthy and tattered it is is just depressing.
