So I actually had a read back through the thread and it makes sense now
And unfortunately not still, as the 'flash'* scroller came before your drawing, sorry
Still, a nice wireframe design for the site, I like some of the ideas in it. The curvy top perhaps is a little reminiscent of TowersTimes, but it's still good to see others ideas and inspiration for the site though! Awesome stuff
*By the way just to be a web design pedant, its not vile Flash either, its jQuery ftw! Ewww icky Flash.... having to use it at Uni too ftl. But more on my hatred of Flash another time

You could avoid this problem by splitting the background gradient away from the face image, and then displaying them separately - repeating the gradient across to fit whatever monitor size is necessary, and then always displaying the face.
