At the moment no, but if you e-mail our team e-mail address with any pictures thats much apreciated. I think a image drop box is one of the things we want to do but its a bit down the list.

Ah thank you :)

I think Craig addressed this a while back. He said to email the team and clearly put on the email that they have permission to use it on the site or something similar.

Yup, as Dave just said ;)

EDIT: I meant team Dave... Forgot you were also called Dave :p

Sorry if this seems over the top but I feel it needs to be addressed.

This site is most likely frequented by many people of all ages and sexes of whom are looking for information on alton towers.

9 times out of ten there are topics listed on the front page "most recent" list that are completely inappropriate and unprofessional to be openly displaying.

Now, I'm not against this type of conversation in restricted parts of the forum, but openly showing these topics on the first page you see gives the incorrect impression of this site. I would also not be surprised if this could also damage a potentially close relationship with the towers themselves. It is a family orientated company after all.

I hope this is something you feel is worth looking into.

Do you have an example or a screenshot of the homepage with the offending topic titles?

If its a topic from the Tavern guests can't see those listed on the home-page. Essentially to see the restricted Tavern forum whether on the forums or on the home page you have to be a registered member.

Yeah just to clarify the technical aspect behind that as it has been asked before...

If you are logged in as a member (and your profile "card" shows at the top of the screen) you will see all forum topics recently created on the home page.

If you are not logged in as a member, I.e. a guest, you will NOT see restricted forum content (e.g. The Tavern forum topics) on the home page.

I know this had been raised before as a concern, and it's hard to notice the difference in topics between being logged in and not, so it's easy to see why people get concerned without realising it.

Hope that helps anyway! :)

I have found a small issue.....

Dan! thanked me but this happened:

Is the fact his old username came up my issue or is it an issue with the thanks system?

I think that is due to the way the forum software works and the thanks system, it is an easy fix for Joel to do.

I suspected one of two things here.

Unfortunately the thanks system is very simple in that it literally just logs the username of the thanker against the post in the database, and not the user ID (which obviously never changes) to prevent heavy load in looking up usernames for each ID.

So usually when someone changes username, you still see thanks in their previous username, and then thanks in their new username after the change.

However, it seems it's because Dan!'s username hasn't actually been changed, only his "display name". Confusingly the forum software allows both a username and display name, although we've disabled the display name feature as it causes issues of confusion over whos who, and we support username changes by PM anyway.

Not sure why Dan!'s name was changed like this, but I'll get in touch with him to sort it out nonetheless :D

Done, I've given the smilies a little bit of a tidy up too (in terms of their codes!) :)
