Universal Epic Universe - New Florida Theme Park

Each ride car seats 14 so definitely should be getting good capacity.

Also the current VQ times are for the previews. The park doesn’t open until 11am currently anyway. Which I assume gives them time to complete any work in the park that’s still required.

Even better. I'm avoiding spoilers so haven't seen the cars inside.

I had read they seated 8 so that's obviously not true.

Was in an Epic Universe You Tube rabbit hole last night and I think we could well be looking at Virtual queue system for both Harry Potter and Mine cart madness at this rate. Queues for DK Mine cart are averaging at 80 mins through staff and annual pass previews apparently which is the highest in the park, That's massively concerning really because at full capacity when the park officially opens it's probably go to peak at 3hrs maybe even 4hrs on really busy days.

Universal don't often get things wrong but I think they have dropped the ball big time with the DK coaster. The capacity just isn't going to be good enough I don't think to meet the demand. We've got early access but god knows how far back in the queue we will be at the entrance gates. If the queue is 2hrs long when we get into Nintendo land I think we might even skip it entirely. I don't think I could wait 2 hrs for what looks to be an incredibly tame and short coaster experience.

May even try to lap Stardust Racers as many times as possible during early access instead. Will probably be a more valuable use of that hour.

Mine Kart Madness does have a single rider queue. Some of the queue time during previews is due to it going down alot. Also bear in mind as expected mine cart madness is rough due to the elevated position of the ride car vs the track. Apparently lots of jolts, luckily it’s just a lapbar so not so much of an issue.

Quick serve Food prices are also higher at epic than at the existing Universal parks and Disney. Most entries are $17.99-$24 excluding drink £14-£18.90. The butter beer crepe is $20 (£15.78). Although I do like how Universal now do most of their quick serve which is you order via the app- you queue to be seated by staff member, scan the qr code on the table and the food is brought to you. Much easier than the older style of ordering and collecting food, queuing to pay and then the risk of trying to find a table which at busy times can be an issue.

A word of warning with these burger buns from Dark Universe...

They do the same thing as Towers' black ice cream 😂 🤦‍♂️

A green bun would look far more appealing and visually coherent with the rest of the bun than the black.

As the prospect of me getting to Florida anytime soon is slim, I watched a POV of Mine-Cart Madness.

I assume the madness comes if you queue for it for longer than 10 minutes. What a colossal disappointment and to cap it off its supposedly as rough as anything too.

I think the land looks visually impressive but both of the major rides are meant to be very underwhelming. I'm personally not the least bit bothered about either of them.

All the other lands and major rides interest me far more.

It’s universal’s version of 7 dwarves mine train, I think it looks fine for the purpose that it’s filling.

Well themed family coaster with a bit of a gimmick.

My main issue with it always been that I don’t think they’ve properly concealed the secret track element.

I think as a day one park this is better than anything we've seen before. People rightly score IOA very highly as an overall park but I think we need to remember that on opening day it wasn't anywhere near as good as it is now. It didn't have any Potter rides or Velocicoaster of course.
Personally think that is arguable.

You’re right that IOA didn’t have Potter or VC but it did have -

- B+M launched
- 2 dueling B+M inverts
- 3 great water rides including JPRA which at the time was cutting edge.
- Spider-Man which again was cutting edge and I think the first of its kind

I absolutely can’t wait for Epic, I’m making the effort to go to Orlando for a 4-5 night trip as I don’t have the leave for any more than that, it looks fantastic but I do think IOA was a more rounded park on opening with more new ride tech.

If you think about it Epic is lacking a flume style attraction and the only really ground breaking new actual ride tech is ministry and even that is an upgrade to the scoop style rides.

A heads up for anyone who's looking at the Monster Makeup Experience in Dark Universe; Guests who participate are not allowed to purchase alcoholic beverages for the rest of the day after their transformation, as understandably the makeup could make it difficult for employees to ID guests. So if you're doing the experience you may want to grab a drink beforehand.

I think it’s already been mentioned but I do agree. Although the new park looks exciting I feel Star Racers and Hiccups are very bland in terms of themeing outside compared to the likes of Hagrids and Velocicoaster. What’s missing or what do I expect? I’m unsure but I know it’s landscaped but just expected more?

I guess this must be one of those 'experiences' that goes right over my head with absolutely zero appeal to me.

Adults getting face painted up on Halloween for a party is fair enough I guess. Walking around a theme park it seems a bit juvenile, no?

The whole Florida enthusiast scene can be a bit juvenile at times.

Should sell well

yes I agree, not something I would do. But I am same with lots of the merchandise they sell such as the Harry Potter wands, light saber experience or collecting those popcorn buckets and drink sippers, I get great for some kids but lots of adults buy all these things, what do people actually do with these things when back home!

But then their are millions of people that think spending £1000’s on a holiday to Florida is ridiculous!
