That's a shame, the film is fantastic but I'm not sure if it will be a child obsession such as the likes of Frozen or Toy Story. It has a very different feel to any other Disney / Pixar film.

Mary Poppins ride seems apt, although with Frozen, GotG and Ratatouille, Epcot really is becoming just another generic Disney park.

That is the plan! How Epcot was when it opened does not work for Disney today, by introducing more IPs they can generate more merchandise sales and market the park more easily to families.

I'd love to have visited Epcot around when it first opened to exerpience what is was once like. However even now it has drifted so far from that and I am not totally opposed to bringing in some IPs. Having said that, I do wish Disney would go back to E-tickets with original themes once in a while. They won't, thanks to Harry Potter, but it is an area that Disney excel in.

A new Brazil pavillion is coming to World Showcase in the future though!

Would tend to agree. It is a shame Epcot has lost it's "museum/educational" type indentity but on the whole this doesn't seem to work as a theme park. I do however think that Disney will continue to add IP's around the world showcase areas, used to pull in the crowds, but then when it comes to Future World this is the place where they can add in their own original ideas and whacky rides.

Long term I see a mixture of both original themes and IP's. But the IP's will always be used to draw people in.

The D23 Expo in Japan saw some more stuff revealed about the Guardians of the Galaxy coaster coming to Epcot, including:
    • It will be the longest indoor coaster in the world. I believe the current record holder for that is Temple of the Night Hawk at Phantasialand, so this has to be longer than 3,851.7ft in length. This will be one long ride!
    • It will have a "unique, one-of-a-kind ride system", implying that this will be the first of a new ride system, possibly the Vekoma spinner that I mentioned earlier in the thread.
    • It will be ready for Walt Disney World's 50th anniversary, so around 2021.
Here's an article with more info: http://www.behindthethrills.com/2018/02/d23-japan-new-look-at-guardians-of-the-galaxy-coaster/

Temple of the Night Hawk literally feels as if it will never come to an end, so hopefully they have something more exciting planned for the profile of this one.

Will it be as long as Ellen's Energy Adventure though?

My god, that building is huge! I look forward to seeing what sort of ride GOTG turns out to be!

The building is indeed huge, really looking forward to seeing what they're going to do with this! Something tall (for an indoor coaster), tight and twisty looks likely.

Now obviously we know that lots of new stuff has already been annouced for Epcot, and a Brazil pavillion in World Showcase and Mary Poppins ride in the UK area are strongly rumoured.

WDWNTD are now reporting a new rumour, another new pavillion for World Showcase themed to India. If this does happen then they are saying that it will include a new E-ticket attraction themed to the live film version of The Jungle Book. And the ride system in question? That of Pirates in Shanghai! Now news on a timescale as of yet but if it goes ahead it sounds exciting.

^ yes please - that new jungle book film was incredible.

Epcot is a great park but the whole future/space theme does feel very dated.

What I love about Epcot is you can do the rides and then spend a good couple of hours walking around the lake on a food/booze world tour, especially during the food and wine festival.

At the moment it lacks that one standout ride IMO. Test Track is ok but I wouldnt wait more than half an hour. The longest indoor coaster in the world is a very much welcome addition.

I'm all for Epcot's new direction as times are changing and needs must but I hope they don't go too far with it. I hope they keep some of the Epcot Magic there.

It's unlike any park in the world and world Showcase is simply breathtaking. Frozen being a recent example of where a new IP coming into the Norway Pavilion hasn't ruined the magic as it's on theme.

A new Indian Pavilion with a Jungle book E ticket attraction would be fantastic I must say. However these new pavilion rumours never seem to materialise do they?

Ratatouille will be a huge hit in the French one too in 2020. I'm sure it will be much better than the DLP version.

Interesting to see Disney themselves confirm the manufacturer. Very transparent. I don't think that has ever happened before?

Vekoma are coming back in a big way. Can only be good the industry to have several big companies rather than B&M n Intamin stranglehold. RMC, Vekoma, S&S, GCI etc all seem to have a good piece of the pie currently.

Disney have always used Vekoma though, almost all of their steel coasters are Vekoma with Disney Imagineering modifications. Rock'n'Rollercoaster, Expedition Everest, Paris Space Mountain are all Vekoma.

Disney have announced a few more details about the new nighttime show coming to Epcot that will replace IllumiNations. The new show will be a celebration of Disney music and how it inspires people around the world and make use of massive floating set pieces, custom-built LED panels, choreographed moving fountains, lights, pyrotechnics and lasers.

They have also confirmed that the new Ratatouille ride will be named Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure.

I was talking about the innovation rather than Disney staying with them tbf. New concept looks class.
