It looks like pubs and restaurants will open but customers will only be able to sit outside. We'll find out everything tomorrow hopefully.I'm not sure what the government will announce tomorrow, but personally I don't think indoor areas of pubs should be opening quite yet. Theme parks should definitely be allowed to open in July as they are largely outdoors and potentially some restaurants with distanced tables and waited or sensibly queued ordering.
But I just don't see indoor pubs operating well as people tend to congregate closely, lean in to hear each other over loud discussion, crowd at the bar to order instead of queuing at distance etc. Maybe beer gardens could start to open as a halfway idea and then indoor seating comes in after another month or so.
But given garden parks and zoos seem to be operating OK so far theme parks will likely be OK to open next month.
With non-essential shops opening back up, museums and similar attractions ought to be allowed to open too. Unfortunately for Merlin I can't see Legoland Discovery Centres being allowed to open due to their hands-on nature. The only thing that would surprise me is if they said indoor tourism can reopen. That’s the only sector I’ve not seen any companies merlin included announce they plan to reopen on the 4th. Could be interesting to see how long they stay shut for as obviously merlin will want them reopened ASAP they are the money maker.
I still reckon they will struggle with dungeons, shrek, discovery centres, smaller sealifes, Blackpool tower and possibly London eye. Obviously it’s just a guessing game but from what’s been shown so far they are look the most obvious. With non-essential shops opening back up, museums and similar attractions ought to be allowed to open too. Indeed, I was thinking more general indoor attractions rather than Merlin specifically. Attractions like Crazy Golf, Bowling, museums, escape rooms could perhaps create cleaning procedures that allow them to reopen. Anything like Dungeons with live actors I doubt will reopen for a while yet! London Eye would be difficult if they need to clean every cabin after use.I still reckon they will struggle with dungeons, shrek, discovery centres, smaller sealifes, Blackpool tower and possibly London eye. What they could do with the London Eye is only have half the pods in use at any one time. So use pods 1, 3, 5 etc then when they comes back round, they clean them and then use pods 2, 4, 6 etc for the next cycle, then repeat with 1, 3, 5 and so on.Indeed, I was thinking more general indoor attractions rather than Merlin specifically. I did think about that, but I doubt they could clean them quick enough to keep the wheel spinning. So you either have 17 staff members that sit in the pods cleaning them, or stop and start the wheel as each pod is cleaned. The Sun recently shared a video from Hollywood Bowl about the procedures they have in place.Indeed, I was thinking more general indoor attractions rather than Merlin specifically. What if they had a Ghostbuster blaster-style gun spray - the ones I've seen on the news spraying school classrooms - spray that then by the time pod comes round again (30-40 mins later), it would be safe for people to enter it? If they did this each revolution along with wiping the rails at the same time, by the end of the day each pod would probably be cleaner than an operating theatre!I did think about that, but I doubt they could clean them quick enough to keep the wheel spinning. Today's ITV This morning had Josie Gibson doing a report at Blackpool Pleasure beach at the start of the show.
It is speculation that Theme parks will be allowed to open on the 4th of July, but no concrete or official confirmation from the government.
Riders will have to wear face mask on the rides. Jodie Gibson was seen live riding Icon and you can see the problems with riding with a face mask, her mask keep being blown down off her face or up over her eyes, reminded me of when you try and wear a hood on the water rides and it always keeps getting blown off.
The star did a article on today's program, but I would suggest you go onto ITV player to watch it on catch up for the full film footage

I'm not sure if it's required as Alton and THORPE don't normally start escorting people out for at least an hour sometimes 2 after ride close.Legoland have updated their website to confirm rides will be closing at 4pm every day in July. Could the other Merlin parks follow suit?
