What do you think should go in Nickelodeon Outta Control’s building

There’s a video on TS showing a lot of the inside filmed in 1997 (see if you can spot me in it)

Looked kinda a wacky attraction really fit Alton Towers quirky style. Would it still be here today if it was a non IP it should be used for some kind of walkthrough again. I have always wanted an Alton Towers museum of some sort maybe this spot would be a good place for it

It was a fun house walkthrough attraction, themed around the Nickelodeon TV channel of the 1990s.

You were guided through various rooms, and engaged in different tasks, often with your parents watching as onlookers. There were fun ways for the goslings to move from section to section.

At the end, you were shown a video of your experience on a video wall made up of lots of CRTs.

Time has not been kind to my memory on the specifics of the attraction. I just remember that it was absolutely my favourite attraction at Towers, that I didn't understand why it wasn't open one day when I visited, and that I kept revisiting the area hoping that one day it might come back.

I'm sure someone has uploaded archived VHS footage of the experience to YouTube, but I could not bring myself to watch it. Sometimes hazy feelings and memories are better.
Yes, there is footage on YouTube. I'll post the link now under a spoiler if I can

I think the priority in that area would be the 4D cinema building as that’s massive.

Personally I think they just need to demolish that whole side: 4D Cinema and shop, Nickelodeon, driving school HB thing, driving school Photo Booth and the old education centre which I’m not sure it’s even used anymore?

And just start again, all those buildings are basically held up by 100 layers of paint.

Yeah, they have a lot of space there. We need a new showbuilding housing a true family dark ride that they could have open all year round. One of those Vekoma suspended dark rides would be good, about travelling round the world in a hot air balloon.

Agreed. No point wasting effort on thirty year old sheds. Send in the bulldozers and start from scratch!

If the studio space behind is no longer used or required it could be a huge amount of space.

Although part of me wonders if they’d get planning for any new buildings given its proximity to the towers.

Bags of potential though.

Why not build up the back of the buildings have a full indoor area with play equipment and indoor rides similar to Toverland or Twinlakes

I don't think they'd get the planning approval for that considering the close proximity to the Towers.

It would make more sense to knock those buildings down and put Project Horizon in that spot.
Best overall would be to knock these down and build something new as well as a new building where Horizon was planned. Replace the previous attractions like the show and add something else and a new indoor coaster (Horizon). Not all in one season of course

I guess they’ve an opportunity to make one or maybe two cohesive areas of the park if they were to do that. It would open up a lot of space

We've talked about is extensively over on the David Walliams Thread

It really isn't worth trying to salvage all current buildings in that area. It's MASSIVE and has so much potential. The best thing (and what most folks have said here) is to just bulldoze everything and start again.

A big enclosed area filled with some small flats for the kids, a sit down show as well as a big dark ride and snack stalls would be really beneficial for that area.

In the 33 years I been going to Alton Towers it’s only been the last 2 years that they pulled down building to be replaced with new buildings and that was replacing the arcade by the sky ride station and get rid of Ripsaw shop/cafe to build the Nemesis shop.
That building must be massive when you include the cafe area and they could easily add a new dark ride in there or a couple of flat rides. I always said Bumper cars could go in there and they got a 1 available after Chessington removed there’s.

I can’t see Nickelodeon building being demolished but I can certainly see the Ice Age building getting removed, if they want to keep the age demographics at it is now then Postman Pat reappearing in it’s spot would be a good addition. Then use the Flávio’s spot for a new flat ride that supports Project Horizon.

There was a survey a few months ago about a new walkthrough being proposed and the Nick building would be a prime spot for that. Then retheme the Charlie/Dungeons building into something new. On the Walliams thread there’s discussion the area’s not that busy but if you had an anchor attraction surrounded by supporting attractions in that corner again, then Towers probably have the additional capacity to support thousands more guests within the wider park.

The nick building would be perfect for a family Halloween walkthrough and a far better use of the space than using the TT building.

I can only assume it’s either in such a state it can’t be used, full of stuff with nowhere else to go or they’ve not even considered it.

Nevertheless it’s another one in a long list of odd decisions

I do wonder what state those buildings notice there are some rotten wood boards near to the old former ice age shop.
