Wicker Man - General Discussion - Part Two

This ride is amazing - it’s improved no end in the small time it’s been with us.

It seems quicker than opening week after riding last week, the fences and wood are starting to weather making it look more authentic. Staff operations have improved

My only worry now is how can they keep the ride in the condition it is

A few negetives though

1) fences in queue - didn’t notice this first time round but they actually obscure a lot of the ride view - real shame
2) rubbish - it’s everywhere - seems people are pushing it through gaps in the fence leaving it to blow into the ride area - come on towers do some litter picking !

And throw people who litter rather than use bins out of the park.

:)

And that yes..... imagine the queue times with no youths around (sounds stereotypical but I must have seen this four times)

And another thing - queue jumping or saving places - this really should not be allowed. I know we went on the last day of school and there were some school trips and I know what teenagers are like but towers should be doing more to ensure this doesn’t happen. There was a girl in front of us in the queue constantly shouting back at her mates. Ruins the atmosphere. We get to the front and said mates try to barge through. ThankfUlly the ride op made the girl wait for her mates until they reached the position they would have been in the queue but even so more needs to be done to police this

I thought the fence was a bit tall but unfortunately I think it's due to health and safety. I'm just glad there's no netting where the queue is near the coaster

Definitely due to Health & Safety. Back in 2002 when Air made it's debut, the fences from the queueline into the ride area were all 1.4m. As soon as Air suffered it's [frequent] technical gremlins, the ride area was just as a free-for all shortcut out of the queue by many. Look how fast they added the queue fence height extensions - all sloped outwards, to make climbing them difficult. Given that the Wicker Man has had it's fair share of downtime, Towers could take no risks for reasons obvious so made the fences suitably high from the word go.

Litter in the bushes / ride area next to a queueline is always a nightmare after the school trips three weeks. There has always only been limited time available to enter ride areas - doubtless even more limited this year due to staff cutbacks as time = money. It's no excuse for the schoolkids throwing their litter there in the first place though, but that will never change. They can't get 500 lines / a detention / litter-picking duties at lunch or after school for littering at Towers.

They are still slack on the discipline of smokers not smoking in the designated area. This also applies to the vapers who think otherwise.

Vaping is hard to police though - it’s not actually illegal (although I agree entirely anti sociable m)

Smoking in queuelines isn't illegal at all (unless they're enclosed) but it's not permitted by the park regulations. Presumably they could ask you to leave the resort for breaching it, but more likely they'll just do sod all

I'm a smoker, we tried to stick to designated smoking areas and deffo wouldn't smoke in queue lines. Did sit on the main grassy area a bit.

My sons school doesn't even discipline swearing, hell would freeze over before they disciplined littering at a theme park.

Regarding smoking, tbh I think society has become too sensitive to it in consideration to other things that are perfectly acceptable to do in public, but that's a conversation for another day.
